Forums - Gaming - Have you ever bought a console/handheld for ONE game?

Bought Wii because of Brawl. I knew I'd get a lot more games eventually though.
Thinking about PS3, just for Valkyria Chronicles. If it only wasn't so expensive :/

I bought a PS2 because of Kingdom Hearts.

I hated Gran Turismo back then (was young and not into cars) so GT3 was not a system buyer for me, I was mega disappointed with FF9 (Not a fan of the characters at all) so FF10 I did not have much interest in.

But when I saw this game on the store shelf, with the squaresoft logo on the box, the same squaresoft logo that brought me my favourite game of all time (FF8), coupled with disney characters, I knew it was a must buy.

Luckily the console proved to be more than just a one hit wonder.

PS3 for Metal Gear Solid 4 (sigh), but I rarely buy a console for one game.

XBOX for Ninja Gaiden.

Owner of PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Switch, PS Vita, and 3DS

I will probably buy a 360 Arcade for Star Ocean 4.

  • 2010 MUST Haves: WKC, Heavy Rain, GoWIII, Fable III, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, FFXIII, Alan Wake, No More Heroes 2, Fragile Dreams: FRotM, Trinity: SoZ, BFBC2.
  • Older Need To Buys: Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Deadspace, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2.

There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.

Blue Dragon spurred me to get Xbox 360 because I'm a Sakaguchi fan.

You should have seen all the weird looks I got from store clerks when I had no interest in pre-ordering Halo 3, but I had a 360.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

I got my Gamecube pretty much only for Super Smash Bros. Melee, and an Xbox for the Halos. Was intending and eventually did buy lots of other games as well, though.

SNES = Street Fighter II Turbo
PS2 = Final Fantasy X

I have twice. I got a PS2 for MGS3 (after selling mine original one) and a PS3 for MGS4.
