I'd consider it, though I'm not a big handheld fan. I wouldn't be surprised if they did or didn't make one. I would understand if they didn't - handhelds tend to appeal to the ultra-casual gamers, and tend toward lower attach rates. And Microsoft seems to be focussing on making a home entertainment hub, not just creating entertainment consoles. Although if they did make one, it would be strongly focussed on building their current brands - it would likely work like a zune as well, and be able to access and DL content from Xbox Live. And since Live arcade games are small and generally have lower requirements than 360 games, I would assume that the handheld would make some or all of them downloadable and playable through the handheld.
Id buy a handheld system from MS that lets me do any of these things -
- lets me play 360 games online with friends
- lets me play the xbox live arcade titles with 360 users over live
- lets me play my xbox 360 remotely
So yeah, portable xbox 360...first day purchase. Any other touch screen, dual screen, video player bullshit...no thanks.
Personally I only owned Nintendo consoles since the SNES (had NES at same time as NES, but it broke early on), including most of the Nintendo line of handhelds (GB(returned), GBP,GBC,GBA,GBASP,DS,DSL, so probably not
I would buy a portable from Microsoft if
A) It launched with at least 2 games that appealed to me.
B) It looked good ... very good.
C) Had some form of online.
D) 360 compatitbility.
Also if they could somehow implement triggers ... (maybe fold out ones?)
I don't think so. Nintendo already owns too much of the handheld marketshare. Microsoft wouldn't be doing themselves any favours by getting into it right now. Perhhaps if they launch it around the same time as Nintendo and Sony's next handhelds.
