They try really hard to turn current and future users of PS3 off... If someone is going to lose some serious money on this crap it's EA...

I am getting more pissed at EA every day. I can't understand why so much of their software sucks - when is the last time they put out something AWESOME - polish and with no bugs? There are effectively the "biggest" developer in the world - in terms of number of developers, cash, etc...

Remind me of M$ (a few years back at least), when everything had more incremental more features - and 10x the bugs.

Not getting any more of my money, until they put out something good :<

This post really hits the nail on the head with regards to EA: It's their complete lack of polish on every single game they put out.  The last EA games I enjoyed were Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 (before Carbon, Most Wanted, and both Undergrounds) and the original Battlefield 1942.  Both of those games were fairly good games that were released too early, each with a number of bugs that were never completely eradicated by patches.  Also, IMO the games that continue those series have been very underwhelming cash-ins, hence, I haven't bought a single one of them.  Only EA could lose my business on games that I really liked.

A lot of people here seem to be forgetting that EA is the worlds largest third party developer and the second largest developer in the world (in terms of sales)

EA completely ignored the dreamcast and look what happened there. Obviously this isn't the same thing, but don't think "EA means nothing because their games are crappy"

don't discount them so lightly. Their support is VERY important especially in the North American market.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

ea is only important because of their sports. other than the madden games it wouldnt kill a system to not have ea anymore. if 2k gets the nfl license (it would be worth it to them) then ea could fade other than casual and will wright.

my pillars of gaming: kh, naughty dog, insomniac, ssb, gow, ff

i officially boycott boycotts.  crap.

omg.. Why doesnt sony do something about this?

What can Sony do? Get their mother to call EA's mother?

Badmouth EA? Yeah that'll get EA pumped to put effort in fixing the framerate problem.

Ban EA games from their system? Not only would they lose a lot of games, most importantly they'd lose the ONLY NFL game. This is fairly important since Football is big buisness and a lot of PS3 owners would want an NFL game.

They could help them code as they have done for games in the past.

EA clearly doesn't have the ability to catch up fast enough.

They already stated they'd be more then willing to help didn't they?  I think EA doesn't want their help.

What I'm about to say is hypocritical because I bought the new Madden, but:

EA is the biggest 3rd party developer because we keep them at the top. There's a lot of talk about how EA is bad for the industry around the various game sites and forums I visit, but the solid fact is they are #1 because we don't pull support.

Actions speak louder than words, and yeah I'm pissed at EA over the 30fps issue but, honestly, I want to play NFL footbal and they're the only company that makes the game.

So it's a sucky situation, but it's like trying to quit a nasty addiction, easier said than done.

It's a two-way street.  Yes, people keep buying their games, and that's why they're at the top, but like you said, they're the only company putting out an NFL football game.  So what choice do people have?  Either play a game that's not as fun as it could be, or play nothing at all.

Football doesn't matter to me in the least, but NFS and BF1942 did matter.  Honestly though, there are so many other great games available, I can live without those.  Still, they prevented these franchises from reaching their potential, and it pisses me off.

well NFS is shitty now it was great at the beginning but what they did with the license is shit....

I haven't buy an EA game in 10 years (that's as far as I remember, it could be more) and I won't buy any any time soon.... I did buy EA games second hand though... but never new... so they don't get my money.....

that studio is a joke... I'm not saying they are bad... but with the financial power they have they could and should do way better games... I mean if a small independent studio in effing slovakia can do better they have no excuses what so ever....

This is not surprising. EA did the same thing to GC and X-box owners last generation. In fact, third parties in general seem to give the platform with the lowest userbase the short end of the stick. EA and most third party developers give the best selling consoles a higher priority. Most of EA's titles, especially their sports games, sell the majority of their units in the U.S. The PS3 is a distant third to both the 360 and the Wii, this should be expected. If EA had its sports titles running at 720p and 60fps on X-box or 480p at 60fps on GC, I could understand all of the outrage and surprise.
