JRPGs sell better on PS3 because Japanese install base of PS3 is 3 to 4 times larger than 360 install base in Japan. JRPGs sell around 50 to 60% of their ltd in Japan region alone. JRPGs sell mainly to Japanese gamers.

I cosign this, as well as scotties point that all of the JRPG sales this gen have sucked. Comparing these is like asking who's the best in the special olympics.

these sales numbers do suck! Yet why are these companies not making more JRPGs multiplat or making them PS3 exclusive for it holds the stronger JRPG following in Japan? Development costs are null(check my reply to CGI a few posts back.)

@xcot
DQ swords has sold better because its a DQ, in Japan every DQ sells well even a spin-0ff and why would jrpg go to the wii when the only ones selling well is DQ swords, ToS, and Pokemon.(WKC outsold Pokemon and ToS in japan)

no, going to ps3 would be as dumbass as going to 360. Clearly WII, DS and PSP are the way forward.

None of the games on the list have even broken even, yet DQ swords has sold better than all of those games in japan and is a lame spin-off.

Imagine this....

FINAL FANTASY XIV COMING TO WII,DS,AND PSP!!!!

nope........doesn't sound right, and it never will! Wii, DS, and PSP get a lot of RPGs....fine, thats good. Yet these RPGs are no where near on the same standard we put upon certain RPGs such as FF. I like handheld RPGs but I would NEVER want all RPGs to be on handhelds. Give me the FFs of the world anyday.

And like I said, this is not about the Wii so why must Wii Heads continuously bring up that system? This is not about the handheld market either. We are talking HD console JRPGs.

What about the Wii?

What about fuck off!

Ahem.

@Outcast

There are a lot of "Wii too!" people today. If Wii fanboys have any vise it is the fact that they always feel left out of the grown up's discussions so they feel the need to jump in and show what they can do lol.

which Pokemon game is this?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

This data tells us that over 2 years after the PS3 launched there's 1 good JRPG (which is a SRPG) on the system. The brand Playstation as THE place to be for J-games is totally gone.

I honestly don't understand how you can make a thread titled "PS3: JRPG success" and then come with this list. The crying about how games would fare so much better if they were on PS3 and how developers are stupid to make games for 360 makes it even sadder, cause fact is that 360's JRPG library is a lot better than PS3's.

Why don't leave it at opinion? Except for Tales Tales of Vesperia, all the Japanese RPG's for the Xbox 360 are all between 65% and 79% at Gamerankings. I'm not saying that the PS3 has a superior J-RPG library, but atleast Disgaea 3 and Valkyria Chronicles, Eternal Sonata (it's just a better game on the PS3) have an avarage above 80% and even one of them is close to the 90% mark. Someone could  argue that quality over quantity is more important.

I don't think that the PS3 is the RPG-console, though I think that J-games (will) sell beter on the PS3 than they do Xbox 360, and I think that in about two years all system's will have some great J-rpg's.

You really need to calm down. Same goes for Outcast. That's a warning.

It's pretty strange to argue that PS3 deserves all the JRPGs because it sold more than 360, yet "forbid" to mention Wii that has a significant number of those games coming. It's definitely within the forum rules to mention other systems on this forum. If you have trouble with the content people post you contact a mod/admin.

@Hero: yeah you're right. I'm sure Disgaea is a great game. It was merely an overreaction against the typical PS3-fanboy craze.

In truth i think there is little doubt that Jrpg's would be better off being multiplat. I think we all know the reason they have not been in the recent past has been MS's wish to brake into Japan & the cash they were willing to spend to achieve this. It hasn't worked as well as they would have hoped and now i expect most to go multiplat.
