Forums - Gaming - GameStop Employee: “Corporate Makes Me Do It”

While I am not saying this cannot happen, it just does not ring true.

First of all, the price seems really high for what the people traded in. Oversold and sports titles bring in next to nothing, most PS2 games bring a buck and Gamestop stops taking Xbox games next month.

Plus, I find it interesting that the stock picture with the original article from which this post is taken is European (you can't make out much, but I see the Euro symbol after the price) while the prices quoted are in dollars.

Finally, to most people, Logitech is not trash. If they offered a store brand alternative, I could understand. That is what I have seen most clerks do. Someone comes in asking for a controller, they say they have GS brand for $x and console brand for $y (=x+5). They will also tell people if they have something used and what those options are.

Mike from Morgantown

I buy at Gamestop so much, I am on a first name basis with store managers in at least three states.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Logitech isn't exactly a cheap knockoff...

Imo its much better than official controller.

I trust Logitech with mice and keyboards... but you can't beat Sony's products.

Eh, I would expect them to push what makes them more money.

Dude, shut up. Logitech makes the best gamepads, mice and keyboard in the business. I have way more trust on Logitech's products than Microsoft's or Sony's.

Meh... I don't shop at Gamestop.

Boo Gamestop. Support your local independant game store. Better prices on used, better service.

And I'd rather shop at Best Buy or Wal-Mart than Gamestop, too.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

A good number of "independent" stores are gamestops just with the local franchise names IIRC.

This is why I buy most of my games/hardware at Walmart.

I try not to support satan.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

I don't see the big deal. He was giving him his options. 3rd party or 1st, your choice.

However, I wouldn't call Logitech a cheap knockoff. It would probably be just as good as the Sony one.

However, I have to admit I never buy 3rd party hardware.
