Forums - Nintendo - The Numbers have Spoken - Wii is the New PS2!!

I disagree! The hardware maybe selling like the PS2 but it hasn't and will never have the library. Yes i know that the 4 chart topping games are always wii but are they not the only must have titles for the wii?

Actually according to many HD fanboys it's not just in Greece that happens but rather all over the world.  Wiis are collecting dust all over the place and the incredibly high dust collection is making a significant adverse contribution to global warming.  The people who buy new games (with the Wii almost always having the top software sales world wide each week) are only buying the games to decorate their shelves with the lovely looking white cases and not to actually play games.

That's correct. I know 3 of my friends which were playing the wii whole day for 1 week, then they just get back to PC gaming. Wii is the type of console which looks interesting and new in the beginning, but after 1 month, wii becomes dust collector. U guess people don't wanna get tired while playing the game. Unlike Wii, PS2 is still most played console in the world. Wii WON't outsell PS2 because wii wont have such a long lifespan.  Even if wii sell 45 millions in next 2 years it would still be 90 million wiis sold. and even if wii SELL 45 millions in 2 years after it has reached 90 it would still be 135 million for wii. And who can guarantee wii will sell as good as last 2 years? Its already falling in Japan.

No, they aren't.

It may sell a lot, but it'll never have the same library, coz no one expected it to outsell everything. The Wii2 on the other hand has the potential to become a PS2 on steroids. If Nintendo plays their cards right, that is.

If it wasn't for the "others" numbers, the PS3 and Gamecube would both be tied by the end of this generation...

(And the Wii will outsell every console other then the DS :)

Yeah if it wasn't for the PS3's lack-lustre sales it'd be outselling the Wii..

I find it strange that it's usually HD fanboys that just happen to know people who stop playing their Wiis after a few days.  I on the other hand stopped playing my 360 after 2 weeks of owning it and only play Wii despite the fact I have owned it 2 years longer than I have owned a 360.

maybe because you don't have PS3

I love the inconsistent anti-Wii rumours ...

Everyone who has a grudge against the Wii knows several hard-core gamers who own the Wii and don't play it because no games that interest them are ever released, yet they argue endlessly that no more conventional "Core" gameplay experiences should go to the Wii because the only people who own Wii systems are "Casual" gamers, these "Casual" gamers are destroying the industry because they have no capability to identify bad games, and yet no high quality game has seen worse sales than it would receive on any other platform ...

So wait.... the Wii has a higher attach ratio than the PS2 over the same time frame (actually giving the PS2 an advantage because it had 7 months longer in Japan for the way I worked it out) but people just don't play their games?

I would have thought that if people are not interested in the games they would stop buying more.
