Halo3 sales

As you can see Halo 3 got a massive start but will Halo ODST outsell it?

I say yes for the follwing reasons:

Bigger userbase-By the time Halo ODST releases the user base will be about 2.5X that of when Halo 3 launched.

Brand name-The Halo franchize has been a favorite for many xbox and xbox 360 owners.

Price-Halo ODST will be cheaper than $60 (Halo 3 was $60)

New hero-Halo fans wan't something new and that's what Halo ODST will deliver.

The success of Halo 3-Microsoft will spend more money on a campain because they know that they will make up the costs. (Based on how well Halo 3 did)

I, myself probably won't be getting this untill it costs $20 but I expect first week sales to be at least 3 million units.

no way. ODST is an expansion. 6 - 8 million lifetime.

It also wont have the same marketing campaign.

 It's not an expansion, it's a 4-6 hour long game with all the original halo3 maps plus some new ones. I also think the game will be $30...

 It is an expansion. It has Halo 3 in the title and has Halo 3 multiplayer. Its an expansion in that it offers a new single player campaign. Price wise it might be $40 since it is also rumored to offer a new Halo 3 map pack.

It is also taking the series in a new direction and isnt exactly finishing the fight......but tieing up loose story ends.....loose ends that arent exactly as important as the events in Halo 3 were. The marketing will be huge but not on the same level as Halo 3......and it is also competing against the next Infinity Ward COD.

Again.......im now gonna say 7-9 million lifetime but thats amazing for an expansion to the real thing.

Halo 3. ODST will probably only have around 3-4 million in sales.

Halo 3 LTD sales will pass 9 millions next week. ODST being touted as a new episode probably won't get this high. But who knows, if MS price this at $39 and give it a $100 million marketing push, then anything is possible.

Nope.  In fact there are no ties between them, besides getting some maps to put on your hard drive.

ODST is a standalone expansion. You don't need Halo 3 to play it.
