These games never reached amazing sales, you cant create a groundbreaking sales selling monster with hype. These monster sellers just appear, they happen. Same with films. Look at The Matrix, they released that 4 months apart from Episode 1 Phantom Menace. The Producers didnt epect alot in sales at all.

Holy shit, this is great. First of all I have to say that "koombayah circle-jerk" is the best thing I've heard all year.
Vagabond7 had it right in his post about "hardcore" and mainstream.
50 cent is straight up garbage as far as music goes but who the hell knows, the game could be decent.
Rap is not Hip-Hop but I can understand the confusion to those of you who are only exposed to mainstream rap. I am an old school fan of Hip-Hop but I agree with the hillbilly bumper sticker that says you can't spell crap without rap.
Maxim is just one magazine. There is definitely a certain type of clone who will be affected by Maxim's opinion on the game but who gives a shit about them anyway.

Yeah it did didnt it. My point though is well, it's fine to hype a sequel to a monster selling original. The thing is you know when a series is massive, because it is hardly hyped by the devs or Publisher at all. Merely the announcement of a sequel to a killer original is enough to get the fans hyping all on their own. This was not the case with KZ2. I remember when KZ2 got announced. There was hardly any noise from fans, it was all Devs and Publishers going look how good it looks etc etc.

Think back to the Halo 3 announcement. Before Bungie or M$ had a chance to hype it the Halo community had already pretty much figured the story out. It was hyped all on it's own. Thats the difference.

I feel many fanboys are hurting themselves, because when the sales dont get anywhere near games like Halo 3, Gears Of War 2, Mario Kart and the like they will wonder why. It will probably be a good game, but pinning so much hope on a sequel from the same devs that made a poor original that got 70 on metacritic is unheard of. But I am slightly worried that they have put all their effort into graphics and not gameplay.
