To the folks arguing about ME1 coming to the PS3: PS3 fans win.

Here's proof: http://forums.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=607257&forum=22&sp=0

If he says it's coming, you can bet your bottom dollar.

I apologize for doubting the power of the PS3 world.

i don't understand the point of your little discovery,,,

first off it's very old(2007 tpoic for christ sake)

second one person has a very good point:

"Pachter brought up an interesting point when he stated that EA didn't drop $860M on BioWare only to let the studio keep working on Xbox 360 titles."

EDIT:oh I see what you mean,,,the bioware comunity coordinator says we can take our game wherever we like (PS3 or PC)and no one can prevent us from making the game on those platforms.

With the poor sales of the PS3 and Sony's future in question I think it is more likely will see EA pull titles from the PS3 lineup rather than add to it.

Dude, no need to troll.

@ Spartan - guess what? This new discovery isn't anything more than what was said in 2007. Get a Mass Effect manual or game and see who funded it. MS. The answer is the same as it was when the game came out. ME 2 and 3? They'll likely hit the PS3. ME 1? There's no way - unless you expect to see GT 5 Prologue or Uncharted on the 360.

No major media outlet is touching this thrice-debunked story.

While I definitely respect your opinion, ME 1 was an awesome game every HD gamer could play it, but it will only happen if Sony buys MS. Trust me on this.

This statement is what I find the most laugable:

But what about the PS3 owners who missed the first game? Our source says it is “likely” EA will release a PlayStation 3 port of the original Mass Effect, debuting sometime in mid-2009. Similar to Take-Two’s decision to make a Bioshock port on the PS3, this port would introduce PS3 owners to the series and give EA almost risk-free profit from its sales.

The first game was funded by MS and published by MS. Bioshock was only a timed exclusive and MS didn't fund it. The comparison is laughable. On the Xbox 360 version of ME, MS has its brand plastered on it like a NASCAR whip.

EA was of course going multiplat with ME - it will be a hollow shell of what Bioware had. However, unless they want a legal fight over the first one, it won't happen.

Also something else to consider - MS has been rather quiet about all of this. They haven't said anything - and maybe when the rumors hit a feverish pitch, they may come out and shoot all these rumors to hell.

Just like last gen forced me to buy a PS2 to play GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas, ME is forcing folks to buy the PC version or a 360 - and the 360 version is cheaper if you don't have a very fast PC.

Here's the deal - This blogger did this just to get attention and hits. He has no knowledge about the legal ramifications of publishing a game without permission.

^^^but this line comes to mind:

""Pachter brought up an interesting point when he stated that EA didn't drop $860M on BioWare only to let the studio keep working on Xbox 360 titles.""

why did even EA waste money to buy bioware if they wanted them to keep making 360 exclusives?

(not talking about the first game)

beside take a look at their last Q financial statement ,,,EA needs Revenue/profit and they will do what ever they can.

so it's anyone's guess at this point but ME2 and 3 ports are not out of question.

lool,,,go and see which console made the most  money for EA last 2 quarters in their financial reports.(or atleast in top 2 )

This is what happens when people who haven't taken accounting read financial reports: they start spreading false information all over the internet. There's really no stopping it, either; crap like this just gets accepted as fact, even though it's blatantly false.

I meant revenue and not profit.(no one knows about the profit)

^^^not really we had only one official thread for bioshock(which is a much better game than mass effect)

I thought you hadn't played Mass Effect?

I have played both, they are both excellent.  Which is better depends on what you're into.

Microsoft take money to Bioware for create this IP by the legal this game should be Microsoft's IP.

@ MoMox - I don't think MS would just toss Bioware some $$$$, publish the game just to see if end up on a rival console.

They said they were working with EA and Bioware about locking down the iP ... but I don't think MS expected Bioware to be gobbled up by EA either.

Seriously, I do think MS invested mad loot on the first ME and based on the way EA likes to milk their games (Madden, Need for Speed), I can bet you the sequels won't even compare to the first installment.

It wasn't when it came to revenue either. And yes, I'm well aware that there were dozens of sites who ran with that story; that's really what I was complaining about in my first post. However, it was debunked a long time ago. EA uses different accounting methods to record revenue for the PS3 than it does for the 360; the two can't be directly compared.
