Interesting numbers specially the XBOX360-PS3 situation

2008:

DS ~ 920k (LTD ~ 2,244,000)
WII ~ 840k (LTD ~ 1,495,000)
360 ~ 485k (LTD ~ 1,180,000)
PS3 ~ 415k (LTD ~ 725,000)
PSP ~ 280k (LTD ~ 916,000)
PS2 ~ 165k (LTD ~ 2,810,000)

So the DS is going to surpass PS2 lifetime this year, and last year gap between PS3 and 360 is smaller in Canada than US.

Wow, 360 and PS3 are neck and neck. Recession ain't bothering them yet obviously.

Hm. The Wii has less than 50% of 2008 marketshare here.

The recession is definitely coming to Canada. Even the boom regions are reporting substantial job losses. Our industrial heartland is very intertwined with the US auto industry, and plummeting prices for primary resources are killing our export numbers and bringing growth to a halt.

At least our banks are in pretty good shape. We won't become a country of indentured servants, like Iceland.

360 and ps3 not too far apart it seems, at least in canada...

I think Wii's sales here in Canada are still highly limited by supply. Except for a brief period from late Oct to mid Novemeber Wii's were pretty much sold out everywhere 90% of the time. There was even one store: Toys Toys Toys selling them for over $300 (they had them in stock)

Wii Fit & Mario Kart also supply limited. I was looking to get Mario Kart for my nephew's birthday and no one has it in stock. Asking for Wii Fit = laughs - it's never in stock anywhere for more than a few minutes.

PSP did that bad in canada!

not just YTD but LTD sales are also bad

Actually selling almost 1m units in a country of 35m isn't bad at all.   The fact that the DS is outselling it more than 2:1 is a little sad though, yes.

@gamerace

so the PS3 isn't doomed in canada as it should cross 1 million?

Certainly. I'd expect it to pass 1m in 2009
