Will the PS3 ever have a higher install base? No.

Its 8 million units behind and its not outselling the competition. Assuming a price drop, there would have to be INSANE WII-LIKE PS3 NUMBERS and the 360 sales would need to drop like 60% year-over-year in order for it to overcome an 8 million unit gap. Not to mention that with the Arcade, MS still has the cheapest price.

I don't think Sony is dead. I think they will come in last place this gen, but its not gonna be a total blow out.

On topic, i think 360 will steadily continue to outsell the PS3, because of the price and being more mainstream console this generation (yep it become that) maybe not 2:1 every month but it will be close, PS3 price cut if it comes around might help but 360 will sell more even after that.

If price drops do cause a temporary boost, it was the smartest thing for M$ to do it before the holidays. Does that mean Sony should wait for the end of the year? Or should they risk getting a temp boost during a down time of year?

I personally have owned a Xbox 360 and it's a great system I never got the RROD :) and I had 3 consoles(kept selling them)...and Now I have a Ps3 its a great system also but online in my opinion lacks what Xbox Live has to offer maybe because its FREE for Ps3? lol...anyways when people say they want a system to fail they are just plain outright IGNORANT...without any competition companies would not have any reason to put that extra effort to put out great consoles the next time out and this goes for games also...I hope to see ALL systems do well this Gen...if not next Gen would be a sad one for us all....
