Vista 64 is fine (despite what mac ads tell you), and if you ever think you'll get more than 4GB RAM, it's required. Read up on it here:

http://techreport.com/articles.x/15941/12

Also, check the PC build in my sig :)  $489, runs Crysis on high @ 29fps

My only complaints about cyberpower / ibuypower is that they like to push you towards older mobo's (so upgrading is harder) and crappy power supplies.  But if you're careful you can get some good deals.

Ditto on the 64bit. I run it on all my computers and have only encountered one program that wouldn't play - Dragon Naturally Speaking 9 Prefered which turned out to be OK because running in 64 bit the free Windows voice recognition program was actually better anyway.

On CyberPowerPC, the super bargain preassembled boxes may not always be the el primo BUT if you go to their site and for a few bucks more build your own they offer the ability to select each and every item from the mother board and chip set up down to specific name brand and part number. Even Brands of memory can be specified. I don't know of anyone else that offers as much choice. In a comparison I matched a brand new Dell Graphic Work station that my office paid $3800 for down to individual SKU on every part and came out at just above $1800.

Integrated graphics? Noooooo.

If you're planning to use this for a good 5 years, I'd definitely bump up the GPU.

HD, Bluray, 3D(??). I'd go for one of Grampy's or do what Squilliam said.

As long as it has Dual/Quad core, 2-4 Gig of RAM and a good GPU, you'll be fine.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

Can you please tell us how much do you want to spend on it and we will configure something for you (if you buy all parts on newegg will they put it together ? )

Processor AMD Phenom X3 8450(2.1GHz)
Memory Capacity 3GB DDR2
Memory Spec 1GB x 3
Memory Slots (Available/Total) 1/4
Hard Drive
HD Capacity 320GB
HD Interface SATA
(1/1) PCI Express 2.0 x1
(1/1) PCI Express 2.0 x16
(1/2) PCI v2.3

Cost $370+Shipping/Tax (I assume shipping will be $20-$30)

Its much more powerful than both the computers, it just lacks in terms the GPU department which can easily be fixed with a next generation GPU (Coming next few months)

if your going to suggest waiting than I will too since since the Core i7 dual cores should be out in a few months. Now tell me do you really think AMD can stand up against a dual-core Nehalem considering how cheap the processor will be?

Do you actually believe anyone will be able to buy a Core I7-2 system for less than $500 within 6 months?

Based on the price difference between the Core 2 series and Core i7 so far I believe that the Core i7-2s will be priced around $150 and there will be cheap motherboards available by that time making it so that a PC can be built for between $500 and $600 maybe cheaper.

The used to put the PC together for $50 extra when they started, but now newegg just ships you the parts.  But hey, any nerd worth his salt should know how to slap a PC together.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)

Um, You can't buy a Core 2 for that price.... plus the motherboards are expensive as well.

More than likey $400-$500 is the limit. The cheaper the better though. $300 is a sweet spot.

Squlliam linked me to a good $300 which is a price I can definitley can afford.

EDIT - And yes Im definitly not the PC building nerd. I'll get lost easily.
