The only games that sell a million the first week are sequels in major franchises.

Hell, even World at War didn't break a million the first week, and it hit in the middle of the friggin' holidays!

The only future ps3 games that are likely to break a million the first week are Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and maybe (but unlikely) God of War III.

And of course any future installments in the GTA or MGS franchises. A hypothetical Killzone 3 might be able to break a million the first week if Sony learns to market like Microsoft (unlikely).

In that case God of War II would've broken a million its first week.

But it didn't.  :P

you know the problem with god of war 2 for me was i found out there was a number 2 4 or 5 months after its release because there was no marketing for it and there was hundreds of other games out then for ps2 owners to chose from

Breaking a million sales first week is great for PR and fanboy bragging rights but in the grand scheme of things it's life to death sales that really matter.

Complaining about the fact that only 1 ps3 game has sold 1 million in a week is pointless , that doesn't mean that only one PS3 game was worth buying or that only 1 ps3 game has ever been succesful .

Not that it really changes anything...

Exclusives are a thing of the past atm unless they are first parties or bought IP. Having exclusives on hd consoles is not a very good choice right now business wise for a lot of 3rd parties.
