Sony won't decide PS3 it's over because it sold less than cheaper competitors during a crisis. It could start considering giving up should PS3 sell really bad after a big price cut. Think about when Sony stuck to old Trinitron CRT's during the first successes of LCD's and plasmas, its TV's and monitors sales and profits really sucked bad, but Sony didn't give up.
After all MS didn't give up after XFlop, neither it stopped doing cheap crippled home versions of its OS' after MS BoB's sorry figure (well, uncle Bill even married its team leader ).

Exactly. I see no chance in hell of them even concidering this. They would have to spend so much money fixing the bleeding of Sony, and it would take years. They can easily just keep creating their own products, without buying Sony, and they will do just fine.

Apple's name is established, and has a better public perception than does Sony's, according to those brand ratings they do every year.

I wouldn't say the would buy Sony but could do a partnership. If Sony and Apple make a partnership, then this could effect the gaming industry in a huge way. Imagine PS3 bundles come with ITunes for free!

I think people are overreacting a little. PS1 and PS2 were the top selling consoles when they were released, correct me if I'm wrong. There is NO WAY sony will leave the console business after just one system, and I don't even think PS3's sales are bad. I think there is plenty of time to catch up, and one the price cut comes sales will rise. I know so many people who don't have a PS3 because its too expensive, and they had PS1 and PS2. PS3 will probably sell huge Christmas 2009.

I don't think Apple usually buys into big companies. They will buy smaller companies to build new products.

Also, Apple has a history of screwing their partners. Dealing with them is like dealing with the devil. Look at what they did to Motorola.
