OS on your PC means nothing, can your PS3 see your PC through the Media server option?

Ya, I see Media Player 11, and I have the Shared Folder Available..

I just send all the pictures to that, then when I do the switch, take them from it right..

Is there a way to get my wedding pics from the PS3 to the PC?

If so.. I'm not seeing the option.

well you could do that bit it's fiddley.

Why not just copy the pics from the Ps3 to flas disk to PC?

Less mess, less fuss lol.

The other way around would, as has been said before, to use the media server functionality on the PS3 and try to get Vista firewall and related services to allow Media Player 11 to see it.

That way can just lead to madness sometimes though, so I'd go the flashdisk route.

I have the media server up and running. But I don't know how to get the pics from the PS3 to the PC  (NOT from the PC to the PS3)

I largest memory card I have is 2gigs, and the PS3 backup says I need 8 more gigs of space, so I'm trying to just transfer my wedding pics to the PC.

if the media centre doesn't let you copy the wedding pics, couldn't you just copy some of them at a time to the flash disk take them to the pc and then repeat?

I gather you don't have an external enclosure for your harddrive?

You really need a third device for this (current PS3 hard drive, new PS3 hard drive, and backup device with free space that matches the used space on the current drive). The PS3 only functions as a media sharing client and cannot copy media to a media server (as far as I know). I agree with WoW's advice about cleaning up items that you don't want to backup to save time and space. I think I had about 25 gigs of used space on my PS3 and it took a little over an hour to backup/restore.

I don't know if you have plans for your displaced PS3 drive. I purchased an external USB/Sata adapter for $15 and now I have an extra 60 gigs of storage.
