Forums - Nintendo - IGN: "Wii Music a Hit: We Have Failed"

Great that they failed, their "review" had nothing to do with honest professional journalism it was like reading a 10 year old kid explaining why he does not like something , without any clear and coherent arguments just fanboy ranting, Wii Music is a fun title, but not for everyone (clearly not for a douche that reviewed it) and that's what people fail to understand.

Overall i have mixed feelings about IGN, sometimes they at least try to be unbiased, professional etc. etc. But overall i dont rate them as high as I used to.

I guess my sinister plan of purchasing five hundred thousand copies of Wii Music has succeeded. Now to return them.

Do you remember when they were just N64.com? Man, those were the days. Those were the days.

^Pity I didn't visit IGN until the GameCube gen.

IGN fails... So badly. I don't feel like going on their site anymore, even if they were to make a good review.

@kryos

The RockBand insturments may better approximate the look and feel of a real insturment, but playing RockBand is to music what DDR is to dancing ... Certainly there may be some skill crossover, and it might be a good way for people to get interested in an activity they weren't interested in before, but it completely misses the free form creativity which is why people enjoy the activity at a higher level.

Now the thing that disturbs me about the topic is that IGN is basically admitting that they don't review games based on how good they are at what they're trying to be, IGN reviews games on what they want games (in general) to be.

I'm once again going to point at the Football Manager debacle, where IGN actually withdrew a review that was done by someone who did not understand football (soccer), and did not understand what was so fun about a management sim.

So the fact is that IGN employs double standards. If the game is 'hardcore' enough, they won't even consider leaving the review in the hands of someone that doesn't enjoy or understand the genre, but with 'casual' games, that's no problem at all.

I think they should just stick to one way of doing things. Either way is fine by me.

This is invisible text!

Well IGN hasn't properly rated a game in a very long time so fuck'em, Wii music was better than a 5 (I'd say around a 7) and I'm glad to see that IGN's negativity didn't affect it.

" Rebellion Against Tyrants Is Obedience To God"

I lost respect for Matt a long time ago. He's completely out of touch with the public.

I'm not upset that he hates Wii Music (I haven't played it, so I don't have an opinion), that's his prerogative. What I have a problem with is his complete lack of professionalism.
