Final Fantasy XIII Delayed
Anticipated title won't come out until next year in US, Europe.
by Jeff Haynes

January 15, 2009 - If you've been looking forward to Final Fantasy XIII's release in 2009, it appears that you'll have to wait a bit longer -- say, until 2010. In an interview with Reuters, Square Enix President Yoichi Wada discussed his company's solid holiday sales despite the global economic downturn. "Demand has been generally brisk," Wada said. "The sluggish economy has not hurt us that much yet." That being said, Wada also announced that Final Fantasy XIII would be released later in 2009 in Japan, while North American and European launches of the game would come in April 2010 or later. This delay would place the game's release squarely in a separate business year and profit forecast for the company.

Probably Japan will be delayed to mid-2010, then US/Europe at Christmas 2010.

I think this settles the Kingdom Hearts 3. The game won't be released on any current gen console, it will be released in 2012 on a next-gen console...

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

pretty much =(. nomura is busy with versus.

if come the generation would be over.

I can't believe you guys. This generation is nowhere close to being over. The gaming industry have went beyond the audiance of the old niche market, and that is not the kind of audiance that is going to up and purchase a new system every 5 to 6 years. I fully expect we will not see new consoles tell 2014 or later. All three console makers are close enough right now that this generation is still worth fighting for, and all three are making money (yes, Sony will profit for FY 2008).

Gaming has changed, and the days of putting out massive games in a year to a year and a half is done for. Don't fight it. Embrace the idea of the extream production value, and massivly cinimatic experiance that FF games are going to bring. Long development cycles, are a beautiful thing, and that is what the industry needs more of. Games that are built until they are done. The only thing that needs to change is the number of people that are going to buy these games. We need the casual crowd to see the brilliance of masterpieces like FF, Uncharted, and Fable. If we can not get those people on board then these awsome games are not going to be a possible because of the cost/ return.
