 Sorry but by that lodgic mate would mean anytime something decrease then that is seen as good? We see the total opposite everywhere else with the Wii,360 and DS all posting better figures then they were last year. Is the rest of the world not suffering from the same economic problems? If what you say is true would that not be the same everywhere?

The reality is in Japan 2008 saw hardware sales lower then in 2007, 2009 looks like the pattern is still staying the same. The Japanese market seems to be going down while the other markets especially the european seems to be going up. The sales are not that great considering the numbers we have seen before. Look at the Wii, even the almighty Wii is down 50%, that is a vast difference. The pattern in Japan looks unique to everywhere else in my view.

 if you look it that way all consoles besides 360 and DS are down. This might just be a bad week for gaming in Japan. And why is PS2 not included?

 Well i did not look at the PS2 numbers but this is what they are

PS2 numbers this week = 8k.  This week last year = 15k. Meaning PS2 sales are DOWN 7k (almost 50%) thus concluding that only 2 platforms actually increased sales while all three playstation brands and the wii decreased in sales. Which makes the title of the thread slightly wrong looking :)

Good ps3 sales hopefully it can keep it up and not fall to much, good 360 sales also, Wii dropped quite a bit.

The only the you really have a good point with is how badly the Wii is selling.

it is amazing that if these sale figures for the ps3,playstation family are all it takes for some people to start bashing on the 360,when in truth the ps3 should be doing soo much better wow??as stated 360 UP AND SONY FROM THE HIGH POSITION OF LAST GEN DOWNNNN HMMMM??just give each its dues ok ps3 doing better than b4 and also 360 i hope they both keep on rising because like it or not they r both great systems to whoever owns them ok,lets all get along as gamers,from no on lets try not to bash other systems and only wish the best for all the company involved in 2009 and beyond,i extend my hand as a 360 owner to all my ps3 and wii gaming brothers and sisters in friendship,GAME ON.

 Last week the difference was at about 80k and NA is going down fast for every console, so it is a possibility. Of course , if you wanna to be conservative, 80 k, but the trend is for this difference to get smaller till  it reaches 20-40k per week.

Again this is a guess, so ...

It's not all that surprising that the PS3 is selling less YOY considering it hasn't had a price cut since 07. A good measurement of how it's doing will be how well it sells when it receives it's next price cut.
