Sony Lose Money for me to play their system...........

I have been loyal to Playstation since PS1.  I got a PS2 on day one, and still have it to this day (works perfectly, never a problem).  So it made me want to get a PS3 because of PS2's longevity.  That being said, I got an Xbox 360 instead.  Why?  Well, main reason is it was $140 cheaper (got the 20gb right when the price cuts happened, before it was discontinued).  I was able to get games, another contoller, and 13 months of Live for the same cost as a core PS3.  I wanted it right away, and I had birthday money, but not enough for a PS3 plus games, controller, etc, so I went Xbox 360.  I have had it since September and have loved it with no problems ever since.  Almost all my friends have 360, so I get a lot of good Live games going on.  If PS3 was cheaper, I probably would have gotten that, but since I got the 360, I have been more than pleased and Microsoft will most likely get my money next gen as well.  I do have a PSP tho, so Sony and I are still buds...heh.

It's funny how many feel that had to come here and defend their PS3 purchase. And by funny I mean sad.

Numonex - Everything you said in your original post makes perfect sense except for number 4.

I bought it when they were priced about the same ($350 vs $400). I have a few friends with PS3s, 360s and Wiis and they said that between the PS3 and the 360, they'd choose the 360 for gaming. They said games generally played better.

Of course, they both had many more games for the 360 and the PS3 and one of them got the PS3 specifically to play BDs.

There were also a few exclusives I really wanted for the 360 and none that I really wanted for the PS3.  I sort of wanted Uncharted and Ratchet.

I chose 360 because when I was considering my purchase the 360 rising a hot streak of exclusive games like Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, etc... It was an easy choice.

I'm assuming any other "My story why I chose xxx over xxx" thread would't provoke a similar response , right ?

its literally impossible for me to choose 360 over ps3.

most of my buddies have a ps3 - imo ps3 has the best games - ps3 has the upcoming games that i want to play

i game downstairs in my front room, with net upstairs ps3 wireless connects easily

i only play online a few times a week, so a free service that lets me do that is perfect for me, if i had to pay for live it wouldnt be worth it for me because of the amount i play online.

ive always been into movies so bluray is a must for me, i dont buy dvd`s anymore

i belive my ps3 is better all round for all uses, including things like audio playback.

so in a nutshell everyone is entitled to game on what he/she holds a preference for in my case ps3 is the best.

ive never been loyal to any brand, i just choose whats best for me, last gen i played more on xbox this gen ps3 its just the way it goes.

Well, I wanted a PS3 since launch, but the price in BR...
Then, 1 year later, I went to US in a working experience program and got to choose. Had no information whatsoever on both systems apart from Blue Ray in PS3 and that there would be a God of War 3 eventually. I just had started GoW2, so I was sold, really. Later I learned about RRod, disc scratching, paid online, Little Big Planet and was satisfied with my choice.

The thread started with a guy explaining why he got a x360 over a PS3. Is ironic that you come and complain about just the opposite.

You would assume correctly, yes.  That is if I even bothered to post in them.  I actually felt bad for shooting this to the top of the list (which I'm doing again now . . .   ) because these threads always end up like this.  The OP gave his reasons.  Good for him.  There is just not much to discuss, but people often tend to take it as a slight to their console of choice if it wasn't selected and feel the need to defend it.  Meh.
