i agree its getting to much hype, it will never live up to the level its being placed at ...i see another possible lair

heh, except for the fact that KZ2 already has a review 10 points higher than any reviewer gave Lair. I'm going to start comparing every hyped game on the other systems to Too Human or Wii Music...maybe Red Steel instead? I'll work on that.

KZ2 will be rated in the 90s because of graphics alone (something I complained about with Gears). The good thing is that the multiplayer is top notch and from all reports the single player is very good as well.

how about you lower the SDF flag and let me explain, I did not mean in the quality factor, I ment thatKZ is going to be placed so high out o reach that it will never hope to achieve what the fanbase is painting it at, and b/c of this the game will be pulled to shreads for any little blip it might have by the rest of the world

dude, you don't compare a great game with Lair, which is at 53 on metacritic.  Of course lair didn't live up to the hype, it was a bad game.  KZ2 is nowhere near Lair in quality or living up to hype.  I was very excited about a game that let you ride dragons and fight big battles, but the game sucked.  that's totally different.

I'm not freaking SDF.  I have very good reasons for my opinions on this topic.

Halo never lived up to the hype for me, and I'm sure a lot of people will hate on KZ2 just because it was so hyped.  I don't think Halo suffered too much because of it, though, and it was a solid game with great multiplayer features.

"Dear 360 and Wii fanboys: Quit Overhyping Killzone 2"

Your rabid 360 and Wii fanboys are also overhyping K2 by convertly leaking their insecurity about the game. I don't think K2 will make the PS3 sales surpass the Wii, and it might not move a lot of hardware. In fact, hardly any PS3 fanboys are claiming this. But it's the rabid 360 and Wii fanboys who are screamng this because the positive appeal of K2 is affecting them as well. No one is making anyone buy K2 or a PS3 to play K2. But if the rabid 360 and Wii fanboys would just learn to appreciate a potentially awesome game on a competing console, you wouldn't have so many PS3 fanboys and PS3 gamers firing back. Go figure.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

As far as first-person shooters go, Killzone 2 is great — some might even go so far as to say it’s fantastic. What Killzone 2 isn’t, however, is a ‘killer app’.

Killzone 2 is not going to move systems. Killzone 2 is not going to convert Xbox owners. Killzone 2 is not going to cure cancer or resurrect the dead. Killzone 2 is simply a great shooter, and that’s it.

Is that what you wish or just what you saw on your crystal ball ?

How do you know it won't move systems? Who are you to say KZ2 is not a "Killer App" or, to call it something else a "must-have game"?  Great shooters are many, mister. Farcry 2 is one, Resistance 2, Left 4 Dead...etc, some of these "great" ones even made it to GOTY nominees lists. There have been many overhyped games that sold LOTS in the past, yeah GTA4 is one, and Assassin's Creed also comes to my mind which also sold like crazy on pure hype I'd dare say.

I think I will end this thread right now, and I will end YOU with it with this question: Why do you question Killzone 2 greatness and then relate it to SALES of the game and its capacity to "move systems" ?

So, are you implying here if the game doesn't "move systems" or sales skyrocket as if Sony will be giving away PS3s for free, that makes the game "not that great" ? I take it you are tired of the hype going on the last weeks, and I also take it you won't be buying the game. You probably made your mind about not buying Killzone 2 long ago when you also made your mind about the game being "just great" and "not moving systems".

Whatever spike you see on PS3 sales during March you can bet Killzone 2 had its share on that. Even when Resident Evil 5 debuts middle of March, and other nice games appear on the shelves, you can count PS3 hardware sales to Killzone 2. Of course it won't be doing it by itself, but it will definitely be a huge part of it, just like many people still decide to buy a X360 'cause it also has Resident Evil 5 but also they get Gears 2 or Left 4 Dead, whatever flips their world. If you see the ever expensive PS3 hanging in there the upcoming months, battling neck to neck in US soil with the favourite 360 you can be sure as death Killzone 2 had a lot to do with it.

Hype and overhype are two different things. KZ2 deserves much hype. The multiplayer is awesome! KZ2 is NOT overhyped.

Halo 3, overhyped!! From Moutain Dew to Pizza Hut to a televised midnight launch!! This was PURE marketing. Yet, I didn't see threads as idioti as this being created. Where were the "Please Internet stop hyping Halo 3" threads? Where was the arguments that Halo 3 wouldn't push consoles?

All of you saying there toouch hype should go kick rocks. Or better yet, pretend it's a 360/Wii game and stfu! Btw, I was in the Beta. Yes, I've played the game. Now go pound sand where the sun don't shine.

---that is a great point

I think what is getting under my skin the most is that anymore all we get from the sony camp is hey x game is the be all end all game and will move systems---game comes, game goes

Then they say well this x game will be the end all

To often they seem to forget one game in favor of what just came out—no system this gen or next will ever survive on one game alone

I mean both systems are building layers of great games as a foundation and shouldn’t be held up for just what is the newest member of the club

@ mesoteto )

who is this "sony camp" you always seem to talk about and with ? CrazzyMan? Megaman2 (although he always seemd to be ironic/kidding) ? Rock_on_ ?

I just saw several PS3 owners saying "KZ2 won't be the PS3s saviour".

Maybe it's because I'm not reading closely enough, but I don't think anyone is seriously arguing that this game is the end all.  It is, however, worthy to get excited about!

If by "Sony camp" you mean "the same three dilusional people on VGChartz," well yeah ... you'd have a point there.

Article is right. that is a job for...TEH C3LL!!!

Yes your right. My guess is that the Cell can convert a single Xbox owner with ~20% of SPE usage plus only 128kb of the cache memory. Cure cancer uses about the same amount, and ressurect the dead uses all the 6 SPEs but the PPE is still free to do other jobs, as most of the XDR RAM.
