NO NO NO to FFXIII's Battlesystem was boring.
Give me the good old FFVII or FFX battle systems please, and then make enemies require strategy please...

It was fine as a Battle System - It was NOT fine as a battle system for a "Main Series" Final Fantasy game.

Nay. FFXII felt like playing FFXI without the online and FFXI wasn't that good. Square should have let Matsuno do the game like wanted instead of ruining it with their interference. No wonder he quit the company in disgust before it was finished.

I liked it, though I felt a bit lost with the characters and unsure how I should progress each person, they lost a bit of their identity also. I enjoy something more like IX, X and VIII.

I did not really care that the characters were similar, I used them for certain things, as they were better at certain things. Also, can I point out that on Final Fantasy X, my tidus is a better magic user than Yuna, so XII is not the only game with the character problems |
But that's only possible in the end of the game, during the normal process of the story, most character have their own unique abilities based on where they start on the grid. So to me FFX is the best of both worlds, different characters as you go along but you can customize them as you want towards the end.
I played that game so much that Rikku is my strongest character hitting 99,999 everytime making any non-arena monster a complete joke.
@OT: I thought the FXII battle system was refreshing when I started playing the game but it got boring pretty fast. So it's a NAH for me.
Signature goes here!
I hated it, my favorite battle system is still FF X. The whole game in XII was rather dull, the voice acting was just kind of off (although that was also a issue with X)

I remember correctly Matsuno got sick and the director of Final Fantasy IX (who was also the producer of XII) finished the game. That team is probably making Final Fantasy XIV by now.
Final Fantasy XII is an modern classic, and just like Windwaker en Final Fantasy VIII who where critizided back then by the conservative fan's, someday they will admit they where wrong.
I won't say either yes or no. It was different. While I prefer turn-based battles (VIII still has the best battle system in an FF), the battle system in FFXII worked well enough, it was enjoyable though in the end it became a bit tiring. But it don't think it was either broken or boring.
So, while I'd prefer the next FF to be turn based, I certainly won't diss another FF if it tries to do something similar to the battle system of XII

Yea.
I've never been able to take people who whined about it very seriously.
don't go berserk don't go berserk don't go berserk...
To the OP:
The FFXII's battle system is the best thing that ever happened to the series.
The new character looks amazing.
And I hope XIII is nothing like X. X was good, but I want my new Final Fantasy, not the same old shit with updated graphics.
