Forums - Gaming - Final Fantasy XII battle system YAY or NAH

I quite enjoyed it, it certainly carried me for the 60 hours I spent on the game. I did not really care that the characters were similar, I used them for certain things, as they were better at certain things.

Also, can I point out that on Final Fantasy X, my tidus is a better magic user than Yuna, so XII is not the only game with the character problems

Yuna was a summoner....with minimal healing and blackmage possibilities so that is possible

BUT on the flip side each character was different from each other they all had there usage.......i didnt find much character problems there in terms of difference in each other

I thought the story in XII was refreshing, it was a good story that did not have any crazy bullshit thrown into it. the battle system was fun, especially if you controlled one of the characters and didn't use a gambit for them. I would like to see another game use this system.

Now Playing: The Witcher (PC)

Consoles Owned: NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, Wii, Xbox 360, Game Boy, DS

i think ffx-2 had the best battle system but for character individuality ffVII is the way to go

HELL F-ING NOOO!

My god playing that game with all the gambits made the game turn into a F-ING movie.

No skill what so everl.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

FFXII was a masterpiece.

It was fun long as there was something to develop, ie. the gambit system didn't do everything and the characters had significant differences. It got boring by the end of the game, though, and that's why I still have yet to complete.

FFXII was such a disappointment for me because I did like the battle system so much. I feel like it's the best game they ever created. However it's my least favorite in the series because they forgot to add any kind of story to it. I quested for 60 hours before i realized that i wasn't going to get any story and was just about at the end.

My only complaint with the gameplay was that they created an artificial difficulty curve by simply not allowing you to purchase many of the gambits early on, and it makes zero sense to have to purchase directions for your team.

It has the best battle-system of all the Final Fantasy, and I hope Final Fantasy XIII battle-system is pretty similar.

X-2 has the second best B-S, even though I dind't like as much as the others, and IX is still my favourite one.

I liked the way they fight in FFX.

I haven't played FFXII, but having read user submitted reviews on GameFAQs, it seems to be some kind of tedious offline MMORPG battle system that's the cause of numerous complaints.

Yay. FF battle systems have always been different from each other. This one was nice and innovative as well. If only I could say the same about the story...
