Forums - Sales - Is Square-Enix making a mistake making 360 there go to system for rpgs?

Square Enix has made a point that they need to reach a wider userbase outside Japan. X360 jrpg's sell better outside the island and that's what they are gunning for.

Anyways this discussion is sorta moot until WKC gets released in the West. So far the cap for X360 jrpg's is LO's 880K, we still don't know the cap for the ps3.

It should be noted however that TLR will hit 500k with this week's sales and 600k is not out of reach. That's 12-15M$ in revenue... and pretty much inline for jrpg's not belonging to one of the big three franchises.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

They aren't making ANY platform their primary RPG system. Every system, including the Wii, PS3, 360, DS, and PSP has big Square exclusives.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

DS is their go to system for RPGs, not 360.

Square needs to make PS360 HD JRPGs and Wii JRPGs.

Considering their last 2 games didn't have final fantasy or dragon quest in the name, they did quite well. Compare its sales to other Jrpgs like chrono cross, star ocean.xeno saga breath of fire, etc. There right on par wiwith ps rgps

Exactly. If they anounced that FFXIII was a 360 exclusive in Japan I bet it would still sell very well. (Of course this won't happen) But their top selling RPGs FF and DQ are not coming to the 360 in Japan, so there is no basis for this argument.

The sad part about this for the square fan is that in order to play all of their games you need to have all current gen consoles and portables, including the iPhone.

If they get enough money from Microsoft why not?

The only thing that actually scares is that the quality of there games is decreasing, anc this started with the merger of Square and Enix during the PS2 days.

I loved Final Fantasy XII and some of the Tri-Ace games have been great, but there best games lately have been remakes for the portables which is quitte sad.

haha remember when FF was exclusive to nintendo?
then came to ps1 where it made most money......and now its on 360 and its not making jack ( that includes all square games)

if aint broke dont fix it please?

True, then again the only FF game released on the 360 so far is FFXI

This is exactly what I was going to say. Their secondary seems to be PSP.
