Forums - Sales - Is Square-Enix making a mistake making 360 there go to system for rpgs?

I stumble over this today http://the-magicbox.com/gaming.htm

That website states japans most wanted games and Square Enix top 10 best selling games over a span of a year.

And i have to say and some might agree that the sales are horrible...seeing how japanese love there jrpgs more than anything else..

was this a wise move? or are they looking at money from microsoft?

someone help me understand there motivate cause its not very clear.

note*

they also stated

"Square Enix chosen Xbox 360 as the platform for its new RPGs (Star Ocean The Last Hope, The Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery" as one of japans biggest news

Dragon Quest X indicates that the wind is changing, and that's probably better for the company.

It's a matter of whether Microsoft paid well enough for SE's games or not.

No... SquarEnix is trying to reach over seas where the 360 has a very dominate position. SquarEnix would love to post Fable 2 numbers and if they can figure it out they'll bank on the 360, but I think they probably should buy a western dev like Sega did... personally they should have scooped up Bioware... certainly that would have added the necessary western rpg pedigree that they want

I doubt they "paid" for the game so much as aided the company with development/translation/advertising.  Personally would you want Microsoft or Sony to do an epic ad campain for you?  I think Final Fantasy XIII would sell asstons better on the 360 if Microsoft pulled a Halo 3 epic ad campain for the game.

its a misconception...............only 1 square developed game has made it on 360 1st thats last remnant its a timed exclusive, iu and so4 are only published by square..............kinda like gta4 its a rockstar game but in japan its published by capcom............so really square hasnt choosen either 360 or ps3 they have stated multiplat policy, wether that includes timed or not im not sure. although they may make outright exclusives

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

they did make a mistake, none of their rpgs have sold very well on 360. they should just make them multiplat as they said they would but didnt.

I Agree on the halo 3 epic ad campaign, Microsoft sure do know how to put there ads together but i dont think its the reason why they put there rpgs on the 360 its alot deeper than most people think

think bout this ps2.... has been a great great system to have there jrpgs on selling 1mill on there big titles high ad campaign or not..but now they are putting there games and trust in a system that is not well recieved over seas....if its over seas sales they looking at they need to look twice

Considering their last 2 games didn't have final fantasy or dragon quest in the name, they did quite well. Compare its sales to other Jrpgs like chrono cross, star ocean.xeno saga breath of fire, etc. There right on par wiwith ps rgps
