Forums - Nintendo - Odd price sighting at Target

I was at Target this weekend and noticed something weird while browsing the game section.  The Wii 2000 points cards were supposedly on sale.  The price was marked as $19 which is pretty cool.  Save a buck.  The weird part?  In small print on the sign was "regular price $24".  What the hell?  Is this a price set by Target or Nintendo?  Which one of them is trying to price gouge people?  If it's Nintendo, is that their way of trying to get people to use their credit card instead of Wii points cards?

Keep this in mind when reading what I type...

I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.

No, that's Target trying to get people to buy stuff. The original price for the 2000 pt cards in my area is $20.

Currently playing: Civ 6

actually, a lot of stores have the supposed original price set at $24. I think it is due to the demand being so high on Wii products. Go on Amazon.com, and the Wii points card is typically $24, but occasionally goes on sale for $19.

The real price of the cards is $20, and you can buy the points straight from Nintendo for $20.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

"And yet, I've realized that maybe living a "decent" life means you won't ever have a "good" life."

If you're in Canada, that would explain it. I know I always have to buy my 2000pt cards at 24.99.

By life end:

  • Wii- 100 million+
  • Xbox360- 35~40 million
  • PS3- 30 million
  • PSP- 30~32 million ------------- FAILURE
  • NDS- 85~90 million (Skeptical)  - FAILURE
  • NDS- 100 million+ (Optimistic) -- Success!

Well it doesn't really matter what the regular price is, just the sale price. so you may as well go ahead and buy it.

But that is weird though.
