| Senlis said: Last night, I was playing World in Conflict with my friend. We are both somewhat novices at the game, and it took us a little bit to get on the same team. After a couple rounds of assault, Me and another teamate picked support. I saw that he got a few heavy anti-airs and believe that the team would not benefit from me getting more heavy anti-airs, so I got a couple of medium anti-airs and three medium artilleries. Even though it was not in the rules of the match that I could not get artillery, I was kicked by vote because of the 3 or 4 more experienced players. It wasn't even heavy artillery, just medium. The person who started the vote to kick me was also complaining about all these "newbies". From the way he talked, it seemed like he was one of those 13 year olds who had been playing the game since it came out and thought he was better than everyone else who played the game. My point is, there are people like this in every multiplayer game. People who think they are better than other people because they are more skilled, and people who complain when you use a certain weapon or unit. Artillery units are part of the game people. Massive Entertainment has not nerfed them or made them more expensive, which means the developer thinks they are not overpowered. I think that maybe people cannot coordinate well enough to destroy artillery when they arrive and that is why it annoys them. Has anyone else met these kinds of people? |
I am one of those people but let me explain why exactly would you get kicked for using the build you used.
Medium anti airs are essentially worthless, if you thought that your team had too much anti air then you should have picked another class rather than pick an inefficient version of the same thing that your friend is carrying. Not only that 3 medium aa's would get easily wiped out by a heavy chopper formation of 4 or more helicopters (2 missiles on the first and second aa's and rockets from primary guns to finish off the last one) which would leave your artillery that section of the map exposed to enemy air.
Secondly, 3 medium artilleries is an overkill. One medium artillery is more than enough to take out infantry and medium artillery cant take out anything other than infantry efficiently. Any other ground target would be far more effectively destroyed by heavy artillery and once again only one unit would be enough.
Lastly, you brought no repair tanks whatsoever. All of your units are fragile and wont last long without constant repairs. Not only that, all of your allies would benefit from repairs and last much longer on the battlefield. It is practically impossible to push closer to the enemy spawn without repair tanks because sooner or later the damage starts to take its toll and tanks have to pull back. And once tanks are falling back everything else will soon follow suit.
World In Conflict matches involve a fairly small amount of people and even a single player not acting in the most efficient manner jeopardizes the chances of the success. I assume that you and your friend would not stick together with all of your aa's and spread out, so if your aa is destroyed (and it will be because it is only medium) then your entire team will depend on a single support player with aa, which will let the enemy air players massacre your tanks, artillery and anything else on the ground. You are part of a team and if you dont perform well then the rest of the team will fall apart, and I dont consider 3 minute matches where all i do is spawn more units fun.
