firefox.exe is probably still running.  Go to the task manager>processes and manually stop it.  Unless it is something else entirely.

Try going to your task manager and end processes that you are not currently using before trying to clean out firefox. Or try running windows in safemode before clearing out the saved data. Also go into your add/remove programs and delete programs that you don't use anymore.

This is what I use as well (though, not as often).

A friend of mine, his comp froze with a very explicit picture on-screen. He tried to plug out the monitor but he couldn't find the lead. His mom then walked in on him panicing trying to shut the thing down.
