Are you sure Soriku? I don't know whats the truth anymore. (You are correct)

To me both games are unrelated because they only have somethings in common.

 Yeah he's right, I thought it is more than 1000 years later but I wasn't sure about the exact number.

Both games play in the same world. Apart from that, they are not really related, with the exception of the tree though. And then there are recurring elements in all Tales games like the summons of course.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

Tales of Symphonia 2 seems like more of the same only where Lloyd was tolerable (if dumb), the new main character (Emil) is... kind of spineless. I'm not far in yet so I can only hope it gets better.

It does. Much better.

I just read it on wikipedia, Phantasia and some 2 other games are a little bit related to each other...

I guess i'll try to get DotnW and SoP...

Awesome, glad you enjoyed it. =]

Dawn of the New World is definitely worth it. Go buy it! =D

The name of the new tree is Yggdrasill. It's mentioned in Tales of Phantasia.

What? Phantasia is related  to Symphonia?

Yes it's the same world.

Dawn of the New World is an okay game. Its not as good as the original. Emil is beyond annoying. They really should have had his character progress faster. I haven't disliked a lead in RPG this much since Cloud Strife.

I do like the changes to the battle system though. It seems to be far more fluid than the ToS system. The monster system takes come time to get used to but it's okay. I really wish they didn't level and equipment lock the original cast though. Since you just finished the original, you'll enjoy seeing what happened to the worlds after they combined.

Good to hear... though posts like Darc's above make me worry.

yea the non leveling symphonia characters is annoying.

The monsters are addicting to want to level, but then dwarf you in their stats and do like 4k damage per hit or something insane.

I agree with it seemed like Emil went from Pussy to Stud in like 20 minutes of the story, but wasn't this game like cut short to release it and was supposed to be an actual sequel instead of its side story thought.

Like it seems when you find out the twist in the story it should be like the halfway point in the story. but at that point it is like OK head to final boss.

Still fun game though and good story while lasted, though felt like could have been amazing story if longer

The rest of the cast makes up for Emil short coming for the most part. I really got a kick out of Tenebrae and the interactions of the original cast with each other. Marta annoyed me at first but her character develops far faster than Emil and after a couple of hours I actually liked her character.

@Irstupid

Yeah from what I hear the game was going to be a longer and full fledge sequel. The game is still a good length.

@c03n3nj0

Here is are side by sides of the map from Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World and Tales of Phantasia.

Notice any similarities?

both square maps?

Have to disagree with you there Soriku. Emil is hardly realistic. Most people wouldn't put up with him. Let alone risk their lives by going into battle with him.
