Forums - Sony - Killzone 2 has no CGI-Animation cutscenes, everything is real time!!!

Some of them might be VIDEOS, recorded in real time.

Videos = prerendered, regarldess of how one spins it or what assets they might or might not be using when they are rendering it, not to mention you can have like, a million of them running at perfect framerate even if they'd run at a frame per hour in realtime. And really, there's no such thing as a "video recorded in realtime" unless we are talking about recording/filming on a tape with a camcorder.

I really hope they are not prerendered like in Uncharted or most of the Gears 2 cutscenes though, but true realtime (on the fly rendered polygonal demos) like in MGS4 (except Volta and GW scene) or DMC4.

Give it a rest TacoBoy49.

If they have pretty much kept those promises from 2005 then why are we not to trust them?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Its fair to be skeptical because of what they tried too pull off back in 2005. Its hard to take anything GG says at their word.

Their progress on the game and a unified gaming press disagrees with you.

Also, if I recall, it was Sony people who said that the 2005 CGI was gameplay. Guerilla Games uses the video as what they want their game to be like, not to claim that it was gameplay.

Ok, so the way i see it, the most chances are that the FPV (first person view) cutscenes are realtime, while the more impressive TPV (third person view) cutscenes are prerendered movie files.

It doesn't have to be CGI like in Square games to be prerendered and only the fact that the game is not out and they started defending it with semantics makes me extremely skeptical.

The fact is that Sony pulled out tons of CGI back in 2005 to try and trick people into thinking that their system was leaps and bound and infinitely more powerful than the 360. This at the end hurt them because it set up unrealistic expectations for Sony to meet,

Tons? There was Motorstorm and Killzone 2 and KZ 2 has surpassed that target render, leaving Motorstorm. I don't see how releasing CGI footage of ingame action is worse than pure CGI trailers that have nothing to do with gameplay or visual style anyway (like the recent Warhammer titles and most other MMO's do).

Notice how a regular argument for Sony is 'just wait for so and so game, then you'll see' Where as Microsoft and Nintendo want you to be excited about the games of today. This has crippled the Sony base as their always waiting for the 'real PS3 games to come out'

TacoBoy49 what is your point in being in the thread anymore after your last post?

Funny how people who dont own a PS3 come in and feel the need to comment OT: Killzone 2 In Game looks amazing, If cutscenes look better ,great.

I saw Red Steel nearly three years before it released and caught wind of Alan Wake almost 5 years ago and that still has no release date set. All three companies do this and I'm glad, makes it easier to keep up with release slates and updates. There's nothing wrong with showing the consumers the good stuff on the way to their console, Ninty and MS could do well to market some more big titles for 09 imo, I don't think most gamers want to buzz around not knowing whether any worthwhile games will come out this year or not.
