Killzone 2 has no CGI-Animation, everything is real time

Back in 2005, Sony showed the world ‘that Killzone 2 video‘, everyone was stunned, many people doubted the video as being ‘fake’.

Killzone 2 has come a very long way but one question is still remaining… are all the cutscenes CGI-Animated?

The short answer is no. Guerilla Games recently confirmed on the US Official Playstation forums that there will not be (or not interested in doing a CGI-based movie) any CGI based cutscene’s in the game. Everything you see will be rendered in real time.

Update:

An outside source who wishes to remain anonymous has emailed in to confirm that Killzone 2 will not have any CGI, all movies/cutscenes are real time. Some of them might be videos, recorded in real time.

is this so surprising??? almost all games released now use in engine movies.

I'm pretty sure the introduction of the game, like the other Killzone games, will be CGI. Especailly since we've already seen the preview of it.

Sometimes it's pre-rendered even if it's in-engine (with better antialiasing and so on).

Its fair to be skeptical because of what they tried too pull off back in 2005. Its hard to take anything GG says at their word.

Gears 2, MGS4...are soe of the games that did this well before.

I doubt it will be real time tho. Most likely in game engine videos...

that is because KZ2 is awesome. KZ2 will eat your dog and murder your other systems. why you may ask because it is killzone 2. I already moved the other systems upstairs away from the ps3 in fear of losing them.

Their progress on the game and a unified gaming press disagrees with you.

Just like Gears of War 2.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

The very fact that this thread even exists proves that people are still skeptical. A unified gamming press¿?? Crazy. The fact is GG is gonna have a lot of convincing too do outside of hardcore Sony enthusists.
