Any number of reasons. In the event that it's another MGS-published game, for instance, it would probably be because Microsoft wants to unveil it at E3 or TGS.

As for Lost Odyssey 2, I don't really see a sequel considering how the original game ended. I loved the game and all, but it feels complete as it is.

 

I know but isnt it kinda silly? isnt mistwalkers an Xbox 360 exclusive Dev team?

I have the feeling Microsoft dropped the checkbook now that Namco and Square Enix are supporting them...

No. They're not really a developer, for one thing. Sakaguchi is the idea guy, and they always outsource to some other team (feelplus, Artoon, etc.) to do the actual programming.

Microsoft doesn't own them, and they've made more DS games than 360 ones at this point.

AFAIK, they are third party, and Microsoft just gave them financial backing when they were starting the company up, most likely in exchange for a couple exclusives.  After those exclusives though, they would probably be free to do what they want.

This doesn't sound like a sequel more like a new IP and since its something new than its probably have something to do on the Wii.

Sounds interesting I hope it works out for them considering Mistwalker just canned "Cry On".

I think you underestimate how much Microsoft wants to become relevant in Japan. Microsoft would be silly to not bother with Mistwalker given that Blue Dragon remains the highest selling game on the console in Japan and the sole reason why it is even relevant in that market.

Lost Odyssey sold easily enough to justify a sequel.

I hope that happens. Mistwalker needs to jump in to continue the Xbox 360's JRPG dominance.

I think LO2 is possible. However, I'm certain that this project is a new IP. It's probably something that is pretty unique. I think we will know more about it later this year.

One thing I'm glad they didn't do is announce the new IP name and details//cause if they did then it would be another "Cry On".
