The same is telling of PS2 and PSP games.

You need to ship 400k and 300k in one region in order to qualify for Greatest Hits, but we have many games that well under despite being Greatest Hits!

It's 250k for the PSP I think and it's in ALL region combined, not just one, same for the PS2. Mind you it doesn't mean that there is not a lot of software data missing, especially in "other" where it's a lot harder to track accurately.

It is 250k for the PSP. I saw it at Wiki as 300k but it seems it has been edited. 400k for the PS2 is right though. And it seems that you have sell 500k for the PS3.

But no, I believe it has to be in that one region because if that were so, then we would have Greatest Hits for a whole lot more PS2 and PSP games.

This is not because a game is eligible for Greatest hit that the publisher will necessarely go for it and reprint it. A lot of game are dead in sale after 9 month and a re-release simply wouldn't be worth it, especially if it's in a region were the game didn't perform well.

I understand that there is a different name for each region, Greatest hit(America), Platinium range(PAL) and The Best(Asia) but the prerequise for the sale are worldwide it seem.

Ok, I have done Others.... In truth I would need to do Japan too, as some games will have total sales data, but not weekly.... but at least most will in Japan, and it's too much of a task.

Shipped VGC
Japan 27.53 21.34
Americas 138.48 60.49
Others 42.55 18.88
Total 208.56 100.71

(in millions of units)

I'm not sure where you got this information on the site, since i don't look at the graphs anymore.  But do the other systems feature these same kinds of data missing.

I got it by adding up the data from the game database rather than the sales charts.

And yes, just as I have explained regarding Others software totals before.... the older and less popular the system is (software wise) the more data will be missing.

Xbox will be missing slightly more (percentage wise) than the GameCube because it doesn't have the more accurate Japan to hold it up. The PS2 will have a lot more software missing in total, but because the more modern software is being treacked better, and because it was the more popular system last gen, it will have a smaller percentage of software missing.
(my random guess would be VGC has data for about 60% of it rather than <50% for GC... but I am not about to add up the PS2 numbers because it would take ages)

Just checking the pages.... there were 61 games for GC in America with sales data, and 42 games in others.

For the PS2 it's 430 games in America, and 194 in others.... quite a lot more to add up (I copy paste into a spreadsheet, but the values keep the "m" after the number, so to perform calculations I have to delete each individual m from the cells first.
