its casual. the game is too easy and reequires no skill in hack and slash games. more of a button smasher.

Don't listen to him, Frybread. I have reason to believe he may be an xbot. Heavenly Sword has plenty of depth and the final boss is damn hard.

What is Gears of War on easy mode?

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8

thats for casuals. the difficulty for resistance 2 was called casual on easy. :)

My apologies, I have very little idea of the two game you mention, but the point remain the same. The majoritive of their titles catered to everyone and because of that they limit themslves to what is acceptable by everyone.

I would actually argue something quite a bit different ...

Nintendo has always been a lot more focused on pushing the limits when it comes to gameplay, and the style elements of their games of often chosen to accent their gameplay. As a result of this, only when it makes sense for a game to have more questionable themes do they pursue that approach.

In other words, Nintendo makes games like the Legend of Zelda and Metroid Prime as Teen rated games because it makes sense for the series not necessarily because they are against making "Mature" games.

I assume that you've expirience the NES/SNES era where Nintendo censorship was in abundence for third party 'mature' titles? (FF2 and MK were a good example of early censorship)

I respectfully disagree about your interpretation of Nintendo policy.

Nintendo's policy have always been family friendly and broad audiences. Name me one Nintendo game that is MA15+ beside their brief effort to be 'cool' with Rare? Nintendo's very policy both expand and limit their ability to please 'everyone'.

This is why I continue to support the PS360, I am selfish enough to recognise those system that caters to my taste more exclusively.

I don't get this, though. Nintendo isn't stopping third parties from releasing (M in the US) type games on their platform. The Mortal Kombat issue is ancient history. Nowadays, I'm pretty sure they openly support MadWorld, despite all the controversy it brings. Also, even if Nintendo isn't making M games, the third parties should fill that gap. Take your current PS3 library, for example. None of the Sony games you own are rated M.

The only limitation the Wii has vs HD consoles is in the hardware (graphics). If it were closer in hardware specs, it would receive ports of all the games that interest you, and probably dominate more like the PS2 (maybe next gen?). This will become more clear as this gen rolls on. If you don't remember, Nintendo was glad to announce GTA coming to the DS. They would love a similar type of game on the Wii, as well, because they really do want it to be a console for everyone.

Now, I don't know if you'll ever accept the console, solely because the graphics look like last gen. However, the only policy of theirs that limits their ability to please 'everyone' is maintaining profitability. They aren't going to lose a ton of money just to hold onto their customers, unlike Sony or MS have done this gen.

So let me get this straight, Gears of War and RFOM can be casual games, it just depends on the player?  It sounds like you're arguing for the player definition of hardcore/casual, rather than the game definition.

Um, I own heavenly sword and uncharted, both of which are MA15+ in Australia, not sure if thats the case with ESRB, i didn't check. But again you're missing the point.

I know that the reason comes primarily from profitability, and that third party is meant to fill the gap, (the problem here is that third party haven't) this doesn't make me anymore interested in a system that contains the least amount of games with the theme I most prefer.

@mibuokami: My only point was, the fact that Nintendo is targetting everyone shouldn't limit their ability to please the PS360 crowd. You bring up the Mortal Kombat days like it's still relevant, but Nintendo has learned from Sega/Sony and has changed stance on that issue (it was more sensitive back then anyway, as the public was new to violent games). If the next Nintendo console also leads in sales and is close graphical power to its competition, franchises like GTA, FF, DMC, etc. should sell fine on their system. Theoretically, the PS360 crowd shouldn't be left behind.

I'm mainly talking about third parties. I know there are those that would prefer Sony or Microsoft's exclusives over Nintendo's. Still, it's not as if the teenage / young adult males aren't into Zelda, Brawl, Mario Kart, etc. Heck, back in the N64 days, Goldeneye was pretty much the Halo of its time.

Btw, I know why you dislike the Wii, I wasn't trying to argue against it. I still think that, due to the userbase, it has by far the most potential for its future lineup (helps that I tend to lean toward Japanese games).

Oh, as for Uncharted / Heavenly Sword, yeah, they're T (teen) here. Strangely enough, Super Smash Bros Brawl got the same rating. I'm aware that's besides the point, though...

Oh I have no bias against Nintendo as a company, I just dislike the wii as a console personally. I concede that MK is no longer a valid argument, it was merely meant to highlight the point that Nintendo was and still is conservative (they do this intentionally). Nintendo is definitely not limited in their ability to please the PS360 crowd, but the PS360 does a better job of it right now anyways, so there is no incentive to get the wii (for me at least).

I have no allegiance to any company, I go where the games I like are, and if the next Nintendo system have the games I particularly want I will purchase it. Currently though and with regards to the future wii lineup, there are very little games on the system that sparks my interest.

And now we are well and truly off topic; in celebration of my violent gaming root, I give thee:
