Forums - Sales - Wii Nerf N-Strike a big hit?

Comments from an EA Exec:

"The game I'm the most proud of that I think has made some in-roads in breaking that stranglehold in the charts is Nerf. What we did with Nerf was we embraced the controller mechanic and we figured out how to innovate upon it both in terms of the game and the way you use the controller with the blaster we released. When the NPD figures come out you'll see consumers agreed with us that that's the type of innovation they'll reward on the Wii," said Lange. "I think it's treating that platform as a unique opportunity and delivering unique experiences for that platform. It's harder to port your way to success on the Wii, but if you really focus on it there's enough of an installed base there so that you'll be rewarded."

I big hit for the developer. The game sells for $60 but the game and gun likely cost a total of $20. EA makes millions if it sells a million copies, even after all of the ads.

He seems to imply that the game charted really high for the Dec NPD.

Cool, something we already knew!

What's Nerf N-Strike? I do know the game, but apparently it's something else than just the game in question.

wut?

I think Nerf N Strike is a light gun game that uses a nerf gun per.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Seems like we're tracking it pretty well! For the first 5 weeks, Nerf N-Strike has increased in sales in each of those successive weeks. It's showing great legs. Will def be a million seller.

I had heard the game had sat on shelves unsold for weeks until black friday.
Christmas season, and bam, huge seller.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

It's a decent onrail shooters for kids. Parents like it because there's no killing of people and two kids can play at once (but they may want a second Nerf gun to avoid arguments) and of course comes with a popular working Nerf Gun.

Interesting but well played gambit by EA.
