What is duct tape?

this is...

Ahh, sorry english is not my first language, and duct tape is really a stupid name for that... Could be glue stripe or something, duct tape just sounds stupid...

Anyway, why do people refer this? I'm not getting x)

One of the essential components of duct tape is highly processed duck bones. The 't' ('duct' opposed to 'duck') first appeared about 1979 ala a now infamous typo; this was about the time that the duck 'duct' tape market exploded---the name stuck.

Famous for fixing/holding together anything (if you can't duct it, f*** it) hence the common joke referring to the Wii as two duct-taped together Gamecubes.

...Actually it's called duct tape because it was used to repair air ducts or something like that.

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

Oh I see, so by that philosophy we can assume that 360 is an overclocked Xbox1 duct-taped with an hoven?

So the Wii itself is a GC-port?!?!

how more powerful is the wii than the GC?

As far as we know, at least the Wii has more memory (64 vs 24 MB) and more bandwidth (7.8 vs 2.7 GB/sec).

What I find more interesting is that other patent, the "kind code" one that lets you hand over the game to a kind of bot when you get stuck and let them play over the really difficult parts of the game, or if you get bored and just want to get to the end, it lets you jump to certain sections.

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

And.. what does this tell us?

Well Kind code tells us that Nintendo wants to make core gaming much more accessible as you can let the game play itslef if you want, or if you get bored just jump to the boss fights and watch the cutscenes

lol at first I wrote a joke about it being made out of white duck blood cells but then I though meh. I have always thought about it as “duck tape” and not “duct”

now why did I not think about bones? :P

What's so interesting about the above image? Is it that the man (?) has no eyes? Is it that he's not using the strap on the Wii Remote? No: it's that this isn't a patent drawing for the Wii Remote at all -- it's for a GameCube controller. The original Japanese patent was submitted by Nintendo in 2006, around the time Shigeru Miyamoto admitted, "[Wii] is based on GC."

Now we know its controller was, too, by way of the US Patent and Trademark Office's database, which also contains related drawings. One shows what this line-art person is playing (a tennis game with Mario) and the other is the proverbial smoking gun: a Wii remote and receiver connected to a GameCube, which is, in turn, connected to a TV with sensors attached. Check them out after the break.

I can see where this is going ... and it may involve duct tape >_>

yeah they said that on ign right after the wiimote was unvieled at e3
