World War 2 i mean. Are the Japanese still holding a grudge against the atomic bombs? The 360 practically offers pretty much every game the PS3 has plus a whole lot of JRPGs. I'm wondering.. still old hatreds killing sales?

Someone should do a study...
I really want to know this but I've never been to japan and my insight in to Japanese culture is DragonBallz and Sushi restorants.

The PS3 isn't doing that hot either.
I think it has more to do with the types of games being made more than whether a war happend 60 years ago. It was this shift in game-play habits of the Japanese that prompted both the DS and Wii with their non-traditional non-games.
No, to the best of my knowledge Japan isn't exactly all about World War 2.
For many, many, very obvious reasons.
Of course it is. They lost the war and we know Japanese hate losing. Look at Sony for example, it needs western intervention to survive!
If your theory is correct, why does Apple products such as the iPod do so well in Japan?
Japanese people are not holding a grudge, they simply like products which are reliable and don't burn down homes when on for more than an hour. ;)
Well i do not think that War has that much effect, i think Japanese really prefer their own products.
Plus its the Wii and the DS (along with the PSP) that cater to they taste more, Japanese gamers really do not give a damn about big badass games with mind blowing graphics.
They hate the controller. Its too big for their hands. Same for me. I am asian too and I hate the 360 controller. I love the PS3 controller on the other hand.

It is better to die on one's feet
then live on one's knees

Unless it has Final Fantasy in the title...
