Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Well, it looks like the Wii is only just 20k behind the 360 this week.

My prediction was week of August 12th... If only the US charts still ran until August 12th.

Looks like it will be August 19th now no matter what, god damn shams we were damn close!

Don't fret yet Origin, after NPD comes out the numbers on this site will be revised slightly. Since the Wii and 360 are so close even a small shift down for the Wii or up for the 360 could vindicate your prediction. However, my guess of August 15/16th is almost certainly off.

Even with so many mediocre games out there, the Wii manages to extend its userbase with no fear whatsoever every week, unlike the step-by-step progress of the PS3 and Xbox 360.

This surely makes new points about the market and the most obvious conclusion is that most people will not fork out a large amount of money to buy a machine that has no AAA titles yet (PS3) but they will pay less than 50% of that price for an innovative machine which also does not yet have a fair amount of AAA titles .

I can only imagine, how will it be this Xmas, with Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl (well, we won't have the privilege to play this one in Europe this Xmas but if NiGHTS turns out to be an excellent game, Xmas'07 will be an epic one!), will there be an earthquake caused by the marching feet of consumers rushing to the stores?

grrr shams, how about stealing my thread =(

Sorry :(

If you want to post your thread link here, I'll happily lock this and divert everyone over to yours.

@all - its amazing how quickly momentum has shifted in Europe. Where Ninty used to be "strong" in Europe - they almost always sucked in the UK (thanks to football and other reasons). I can't believe it has only taken them 6 months to completely steal the territory from Sony - both software & hardware-wise.

More and more every week, every territory around the world is looking closer to how the Japanese charts have over the last 2 years.

I predicted August 19th ;)

(at least my most recent - not sure what my initial one - months ago - was...).

BUT - its a pity that NPD has delayed results for another week. What are the chances that VGChartz overstated 360 sales by 10k or more, and understated Wii sales by 10k or more?

(still - all predictions were made based on assumption that VGChartz figures were the starting point - a revision would always mess things up...).

To Each Man, Responsibility

I think developers, over the next couple years, will realize how much money they can make on the Wii. Not only because they might sell more software, but because development costs are so much lower. They can basically use their old gamecube devkits + Wii devkit add-ons, and spend 1/4 the money on a high-selling game.

They will slowly realize, "Hey, wait a minute, we don't NEED to have software on the Bleeding Edge of technology, because that is EXPENSIVE"
