PS3 isn't doing that bad. Just bad compared to its competitors and everyones expectations. Its still doing better than Xbox and Gamecube did.
Once PS3 comes within $50 of the price of the wii, PS3 will be outelling it. Mark my words.

Killzone 2 bundle is gonna get them some sales in Europe, and if they release it in the US perhaps a decent boost here.
Price drop, even at $50, can greatly increase the sales.
It's just that simple.

There is NO word anywhere, outside of speculation by people, of the PS3 being killed off. MAYBE the economy causes that to happen, but NO indication it will be. In reality though, eventually production on ALL systems end, so it is best not to be married to any given console.
My take here is, you haven't been involved with videogames long enough, unless your favorite console ends up losing to a competitor. Once you get to this place, you learn it is best not to be a sell out to a single company.

i love my PS3 but that won't happen. it might beat the 360 but not the Wii anytime soon.
i think the ps3 has the best games of 2009 and it did in 2008 aswell but i hope there is a price cut in 2009, as it needs one now. then again it doesnt need it, but because xbox price is so cheap now, they need to compete. even if they do 2 little cuts in europe and america, that will be enough to put ps3 back ahead of 360.

Regardless of it's competition it is selling extremely well, but when thinking of it with it's competitors in mind, it was the most recently released, still has most of it's heavy hitting exclusives yet to come out, still has a price drop yet to come out and sony's consoles have always been future perfect consoles that do well over longer periods of time. The 360 is showing how much a price drop does to your sales, and it's already released it's blockbuster titles and it's been out for longer so expect it's great success to be repeated on the Ps3 during '09. The Wii is a phenomenon, I can't explain it other than the right price and the right marketing at the right time = something that spreads like a disease. |
It's not a good comparison to compare console race with three participants with Olympics. If you are racing one of your friends, you will never do worse than coming in second but you would still be the loser if you come in second.
As for the topic, PS3 sale should go up for 2009 because of the price cut. The last price cut was in 2007. Another one should be due.
MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
Once more thank you for your positive answers!
