Forums - Sales - In West, FFXIII will sell more at 360 or ps3?

i mean the number of multi-platform games that are not timed exclusives that sold better on PS3 than 360 in the west has got to be a really short list. The only one i can think of off the top of my head is Tomb Raider but that gets the majority (if we average both versions about 75%) of the sales in Europe while FF doesn't even have 1 game out of a long list of games that sold better in Europe. The most recent FF sold 1.8 million in US and 800k in Europe. You'd have to go back to FFX that sold 2.75 million in NA and 2.2 million in Europe to find one that was even close but even then the advantage goes to NA

I'm saying 360.

The 360 and Ps3 sales are so close in EU that I can be fairly sure that Final Fantasy will sell better on the Ps3 there. Japan is a no-brainer. So the question is how many final fantasy fans in america own a ps3 or a 360? I was pretty sure all the shooter fans bought 360's and FF fans bought playstations but I might be wrong.

But I'd be leaning heavily in favour of the Ps3. Just because the 360 has a larger install base, doesn't mean they're all going to buy FF.

In North America it will be the 360 version, pretty much everywhere else it will be the PS3 version. The totals could be pretty close to each other, meaning practically meaningless difference.

It's kinda hard to predict a genre which hasn't had any good high-profile releases yet.

the thread is only about the west, if we're gonna add Japan i'm 100% sure the PS3 will win.  I think 2 million would be the minimum number we should be talking about in Japan, and that isn't even good for an FF game.  It'll probably sell slightly (10-20%) more on PS3 in Europe, but something like 50% more on 360 in NA.  Japan numbers will probably be similar to NA numbers putting the PS3 well ahead WW, but a little behind 360 in western sales.

This depends entirely on the market share of the two console in 18 to 24 months when this game is actually released in the west. Without that information, it will be impossible to predict.

It depends on how Others will jump into the new FF. In NA will be a sligth victory of the X360 for cheer size, 2:1 user base is difficult to ignore, but in Others, PS3, even if the userbase is still smaller than the x360 at the time of the release. The PS3 sells more software then the X360 in others(up till the price cut, but the atach rate is still bigger for the PS3).

There's other 'west' than North America... Europe being the largest 'other west'. Then there's Australia, too, and maybe something else small as well. Anyway, Europe is definitely west. Oh, and I never included Japan in my prediction.

Might wanna change your sig, Zhuq! 2008 is over and your numbers were not very close :(

You're probably right... Though I'm still too lazy to change it yet. I suppose I'll wait till I make a new prediction or until the old one gets real old. Oh, and the 360 one was actually pretty close. The PS3 one could have been, too, if not for the surprising success of the 360 on the latter half of the year.
