Far Cry:

"Far Cry war 2004 das erste auf den Markt gebrachte Spiel des deutschen Games-Entwickler-Studios Crytek und ein Welterfolg mit 2,6 Millionen verkauften Exemplare."

But it's possible they have included all the Far Cry console spin off sales in that number.

Around the Network

Its almost impossible to track PC game sales. The only way would be developers saying this month we have sold 100k copies (20k at retail, 20k from steam, 20k from our own digital service on so on). Only then will we know if PC gaming completes with console sales. Crysis sold nearly 1.5 million (27 jun08), I suspect its added another 500k since then.

PC gaming rules.....

Stalker passed 2 million worldwide last september

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: 2.000.000 copies sold

3 September 2008

GSC Game World announces its S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl has sold 1 million copies worldwide and 1 million licensed copies in ex-USSR countries.

"We are very pleased that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. became so popular among players from all over the world, - said GSC Game World CEO Sergiy Grygorovych. – S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is more than just a game now. Financial success will allow us to develop S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in different directions as a brand."

and I was actually going to create a topic, if it is possible to at least try to guess some Steam numbers, we know some Valve overall sales, have a rough estimate of how many players are playing certain game, and, well, I don't know what else we know! :P

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

I found this (older) news interesting, for different reasons:

Over 500,000 total Sins of a Solar Empire units sold

http://news.bigdownload.com/2008/09/04/over-500-000-total-sins-of-a-solar-empire-units-sold/

- more than 20% were digital downloads

- Sins had no copy protection

- the development cost were only one million dollar

It's true it was very surprising. I was also surprised that 20% of the sales were from Stardock's little and crappy digital store, and that was before they launched Impulse. No doubt that with Impulse the percentage of digital sales must've gone up through the roof.
