It says this on Gamespot.

We have confirmed numbers from charttrack for LBP....as 309K

so LBP sold 309K in UK ALONE....then ONLY 1 Million everywhere else WW??

that seems just so not right numbers wise.

Hm. Well, VGChartz probably won't change anything unless they get an official press release, as there is the possibility that he misspoke.

As for the sold vs played thing, it's very possible that Sony said played, and others assumed that meant total number of people playing, and translated it to sold.

Either way, we probably need more info to know what's really going on.

In my opion, either everyone overtracked the game (unlikely), Kaz used old numbers, or he did in fact say played, and various people interpreted that in various ways.

I am asking these questions in general interest. Hey, maybe I might find out something.

By the way, when everyone talks about "bundles not being counted", when they are not counted does that mean those numbers do not show up for the game only or do the numbers not show up for the hardware either?

 

He was apparently using old FY Q2 08 shipment figures. Check my post, but I haven't double checked the shipment figures.

Up to date we know it's 309k in the UK and 80k in Japan. We also know the first 2 NPD numbers is about 350k, so 1.3 million does seem kinda low but that's what Kaz said, it might be old numbers and without bundles.

880K for the rest of the world isn't that bad.

It depends on the rest of europes sales really. It might of been a game that only did well in America and Mini-America.

Until more data comes out or a press statment it's stupid to not take Kaz's comment at face value.

The numbers don't seem so off so far outside of VGchartz.  NPD's numbers haven't come up yet afterall... and their first numbers had us overtracking a bit i believe.

I call BS on that, 360 outsold the PS3 by over a million in december ... yeah the same amount of people sign up to PSN as Live? don't think so.

 

 

Yeah except on PS3 you can have multiple accounts while on Xbox Live you need to pay per account, so each of the 360's accounts are real while I would say 2/3 of the PSN's are fake. I would say there are probably around 7 or 8 million PSN users.

That's true, but we need to know in what context though, does it include bundles? And it's 1.3 million up to what date?

 

The official data that I have is

310k = UK (GFk up to 3rd January)

80k = Japan (Famitsu up to 11/10)

350k = US NPD not counting December

 

740k while missing a lot of countries and missing the whole December for the US and most of Nov and Dec for Japan, 1.3 does seem kinda low so I think Kaz was either not counting bundles and/or using old data. Or maybe it's just 1.3 million sold, IDK.
