Forums - Sony - Kaz says Little Big Planet sold 1.3 million-- oh noes! Did I win my bet?

Skeeuk said:
well this is one of those things that will never be cleared up.

but what will be cleared up is LBP from what ive played of it is better than any 360 title ive ever played.

LBP is more than possible to be overtracked but not by that much, its not as if right this minit LBP is to stop selling and taken off shelfs,it will keep selling and overall LBP would have a high sell through i think.

this time next year ppl will look back and laugh.

Was this whole post really necessary? We have ever reason to believe that things just got cleared up a lot. And what does the quality of LBP have to do with anything?

That was weird. >_>

Anyhoo, Kaz said 'played', that's all I'm saying, and I'd like to reserve judgment until we get someone to say 'shipped'.  If someone says '1.3 million shipped', then that's what it is, but he said 'played'.  So sue me.  >_>

Gamespot, NeoGAF, and Kotaku have all quoted him as saying "sold", not "played".

The Gamestop liveblog had it as 'played', as I was reading that when I posted that, and I said that in the Sony CES thread.  He definitely said 'played'.

And IGN said this:

IGN live blog read

9:44: Kaz talks PSN. 17 million registered accounts all over the world. 2.1 million new accounts in the last month. Talks about LittleBigPlanet as great
example of Sony's PSN flexibility in motion. Says 1.3 million people playing LBP. 300,000 levels online Brief demo.

So...

The liveblog right now says the 1.3 million copies were sold. Kotaku and NeoGAF check out the same way.

Kotaku didn't Liveblog, Neogaf was reporting what Gamespot was saying, and they too said 'played', but when they put the actual liveblog article up, and stopped blogging, it was 'sold'.

But I already proved my point.  IGN caught that he said 'played', which was what I was saying.

Sorry if I am completely off the mark.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

It doesn't matter whether or not they liveblogged. This does not reduce their ability to quote him.

And I know you keep saying that they edited it, but that wouldn't exactly make a difference if they made a correction.

Actually i'd say the nonliveblogged thing after the liveblog would be more accurate.

What i find funny is IGN wrote the 1.3 number twice in their blog... why?

Perhaps he said sold once and played anothertime?

So a whole bunch of sites claim Sony said sold, one site says "played" and you are trusting that one site?

Oh, and none of them offer direct quotes.

khuutra: you stick by this, dmeisterj sticks by that, that won't change, since both are just repeating the source they hold dear.

On the other hand, Euphoria has a valid question (imho).

I'm not holding any particular source "dear", I am asking why hold one source above all others. It doesn't seem particularly .... how do you say ... well it's just not a good thing to do! Cherrypicking reported data is practically a sin!
