Shipped not sold.
Obviously they've just sold a bunch they haven't shipped.
Seriously... bummer news. I haven't really enjoyed the game yet. But games like this need as many sales as they can get to attract more and more level creators.

it's not like it's the first time a game has been overtracked, it happens sometimes. Vgchartz actually overtracked LBP before as well. |
mmm i see well lets hope its not overtracked because that game deserves great sales.
Given the context, talking about how many LBPs levels there are online, how many PSN accounts are online, etc. it seems perfectly likely to me that he was talking about how many people were playing the game online.
It seems a little weird to suddenly jump from online stats to game sales.
But as everyone is paraphrasing him, and no one quoting him, it's just about impossible to say for certain.

Maybe you don't understand the purpose of press statements. Making things clear and concise isn't the goal.
I don't see what the issue is.
Instead of assuming something, and taking a statement to heart, trying to figure out what is meant means that someone is defending something... He said 'played', he didn't say shipped. And even if he meant shipped, did that include bundles? And even if it did, how recent are the numbers? Since it's been Christmas/New years for the last two weeks, and we're getting back to normal, who knows?
Simply put, making decisions on more information, rather than less information seems fine to me. I just want to make sure that what was said was what was meant, or not...
So sue me. >_>
Hasn't something like this happened before? Why is everyone acting like LBP being overtracked is an impossibility?

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

He works for the company that ships these bad boys out, you'd think he would be in the know.
It's a disappointing figure but I see no reason not to take what he says at face value.
no twest. you lost. kaz's event was on psn stats. there are 1.3m users online. this does not include offline players

Not really. Holiday sales are difficult to track. Such a discrepancy wouldn't surprise me at all.

I guess you've never heard the NPD reports that Sony does where they jump from the PS3 SW to PSP HW to combining everything as the Playstation Family.
