True, but Kojima might not be making it, and it could still be Metal Gear Solid and not just Metal Gear.
I think MGS:Wii is not a bad idea, only if it doesn't utilise motion sensing of any kind, IR is more than enough.

Exactly would have been a completely different story if MGS sold any less. But it didnt and I think that the current formula of MGS that Kojima has crafted over the years has been perfected and shouldnt be tampered with.

I am a huge fan of the series but I think it is great to go out while on top. If they continue it will just become like any other game with many sequels...boring.

Agreed a new IP is not out of the question for other consoles. However for some reason I dont think that Kojima would create a multiplat game as he seems quite adamant against multiplats as he always loves being able to push a console to its limits without being further restrained by other hardware. An exclusive title from Kojima is more likely to happen then a Multiplat. Now as to which console Kojima says he wants to appeal to the West which doesnt mean automatically that the 360 is getting a title it could mean that we could see a title with a more western story (Although I would say MGS is west enough with the majority of the Series taking place in the West and the western influences and all). I do think that one of Kojima's Titles that hes developing is going to be either A PS3 exclusive with a Western feel to it or Zone of The Enders 3 OR A Wii exclusive with the Japanese crowd in mind.
