Forums - Nintendo - Traditional Advertising and New Surprises from the Preview Channel for MP3?

In a recent IGN Nintendo Minute, Perrin Kaplan, VP of marketing and corporate affairs, commented on IGN's MP3 Anti-Hype article. Among other things, she mentioned traditional advertising and more "surprises" to come from the Preview Channel:

To answer one of your other comments, we still have a lot of our more traditional marketing efforts planned. People will see it all shortly, from ads to many of the usual tactics we use to support our key products. Plus: a few more surprises like the Metroid Prime 3 Preview. And no, I'm still not going to spoil the fun and tell you about it ahead of time!

This is one of three things: new gameplay mechanics, new boss/character revelations, or a demo. I'm banking on option number two, anyone else think so?

Plus, hate to brag, but I totally called this in my Metroid Strategy blog.

Around the Network

Well, the revelation of the auroras (mother brain) wasthe greatest plot revelation they could have made on the videos... I am intrigued hehe

I don't think the surprises have anything to do with the "core game" - they are surprises for the game, not to help promote the game ;)

A demo would be cool. My guess is still something more integrated with the Metroid channel / WiiConnect24 - online scores, some form of leaderboard (time to complete the game?), downloadable content... etc.

But a demo would be great - but only if we get it in Australia same time as those in the US ;)

...

Given that the game is trying to "prove" how good Wiimote controls can work for a FPS - I think some form of demo would be very logical. Maybe the downloadable content relates on the online demo (extra content over time, special areas, etc...).

Or even (and this would be insane - and very unlikely) - a FREE online multiplayer component to the game, that comes with the basic channel. Maybe you need the game to unlock content in the channel.

Lots of possibilities really.

...

@cebrian: Mother Brain does make things interesting :) I wonder how she would go with a decent shot of Phazon...
