Forums - Gaming - A question to all Microsoft and Sony fans

I like to avoid as much Microsoft as I can. I have Vista, but that's about it.

I use OpenOffice and GoogleDocs
I use FireFox
I use WinAmp
I have an iPod

I'm pretty happy with my 360 though.

I don't have a lot of Sony stuff either, I think my speakerset is from Sony. Poor me. My amp is Denon and my CD player Technics, though. TV: Philips (out of nationalism). Camera: Kodak, Telephone: Nokia.

Outside of PlayStations and Xbox's, I do not care for them at all. I don't own any non-PS Sony products and I like to avoid anything MS-related.

This. MS have bad quality and sony products are over priced

Isn't that a bit narrowminded?

To me that's like someone saying they would avoid the Nintendo Wii just because it's made by Nintendo even though they'd be missing a lot of great games.

I like Microsoft.
I do.

Really my kind of business.
American.
Arrogant.
Awesome.
Big R&D investments
Bill Gates vision = My vision.

I love the Xbox products, it fulfills my gamer-side. Before it was Sega and Nintendo (80's and 90's), now it's Microsoft.
I have 2 Microsoft Zune players.
I have Windows Vista (on my laptop) and Windows XP.
I use Live Messenger everyday, keeping touch with my friend (Sorry ICQ, Microsoft did it again [total takeover]).

I can't wait for Windows Se7en. Never been as excited before for an OS, last time it was before Windows95 launch day.
And Microsoft Surface, amazing.

I also have:
- Microsoft Reclusa Razer Keyboard
- Microsoft BlueTrack Mouse (wonderful new technology)
- Microsoft Windows CE in my Sega Dreamcast.
- Windows Mobile in my Samsung Cell.

But don't get me wrong,
I also have a PS3, an iPod nano and I use Firefox.

Die Hard Microsoft fans? I'd love to be.

I know it's "trendy" to hate Microsoft. It always been. People doesn't like Giants and Microsoft is not for everyone.

But Microsoft is in everyone's life.

Every educated people on earth has touch one of these: Word, Excel, Windows, Windows Mobile in most Cellphones, Powerpoint, Hotmail, Microsoft Sync in Ford vehicles, Xbox, ASP, MSN (Live Messenger), name it...)

No other company has done this before.

This is the humor post of 2009.  Maybe you are more loyal than Bill Gates himself.

About MS.  I don't like them too much.  I'm glad to see them facing more competition from companies like Apple, Google, and Nintendo (yes, they are competing with MS).  I've had many problems dealing with their customer service and Windows ME left a permanent scar.  Vista is actually ok now, but it looks like they are abandoning that now.

Also, I don't see how a MS controlled gaming industry would be any different than other industries they control.  I really don't want online activation of games, accessories that cost 1/2 the console cost (wait, that's already happening), products of mediocre quality standard forced into the consumers' hands, etc (It took 1.5 years for MS to come clean about the hardware problems).

Also, I never cared for Gears and Halo.  Both are good, but not the second coming even to other shooters.  It seems MS fans have to like those games to be considered part of the team.  Sony fans usually have different games that they like, and I just feel more part of that group.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

Why? I don't like Microsoft's tools. Every tool I mentioned is better than the MS equivalent. If IE was better I'd use that. I have nothing against the brand itself, just the quality of the products.

I am a Sony fanboy, I have a Sony BRAVIA, Sony Ericsson, Sony Vaio, Sony Playstations, my family has Sony Cybershot and we might get a Sony Reader

I don't hate M$ in the same way I despise Apple, but other than Office and Vista, I generally stay away

Your first post didn't convey that too well.  That first bold sentence basically implies the opposite of the second bold sentence.

I'm most definitely a products > brand person as well.  If the product is good, then I'll use it.  If it's not, I won't.

You said first that you try to avoid microsoft as much as you can. That sounds like you don't really care about quality, you just have something against the company. Also, how is OOo better than ms office? Or ipod better than zune? Well, at least you support ms with what counts for them. Your OS.

I agree with bengax2, all of those tools trump MS'. Except the Ipod, the Ipod and iTunes are such shitty pieces of hard/software that have so many bugs and are basically designed to fuck up so you can buy another one that only costs them about 40$ to make. :P

Vista is great, people make too much of a fuss about it. Windows7 looks amazing as well.

also, you did say that you "avoid ms" as much as you can, but i see what you actually mean.

@NeoRaf,
you should try some real mouse/keyboard combos like logitech or golan

Yeah, that sentence wasn't very clear. I meant to say that I avoid Microsoft products due to quality. Besides my original post also states I have a 360, so that already says I'm not against Microsoft (although I must say the quality is not brilliant, it sounds like a busy airport, but it has the games I want, so yeah).

iPod is definitely not the best mp3 player, nor is Zune, but it's just the cool thing to have. OO is free, which is nice, and I haven't found anything I couldn't do in OO, which is possible in MSO. Better doesn't always mean the quality perse, there are multiple factors that can determine "better".
