I hate it when that happens, luckily a lot of games autosave nowadays.
Id rather not say Burgerflickel gosh darnholys&%$^%* fill in the blank and then I go do it again.
I don't touch it for a couple days, sometimes switching to a different game for that time, before I come back to it.
I haven't really lost progress to any game for quite a while, but that may be because I've been playing fighters and junk where saving progress really does nothing. Usually, though, I double check save data on games before I quit just because I've had some unpleasant experiences with save data with PS1 memory cards in the past. I wouldn't go out and break any games over lost data, though. I'd just ebay the game.

It depends how much time i lose, if i lose my entire save file, i doubt i would ever play the game again if i'm far into it.
I don't remember if it was on PSone or PStwo but I remember having some trouble with my memory card (" data corrupted")... So yeah I know what you mean and it really pissed me off.
This is usually how it goes down:
I stare at the screen with my head slightly tilted to the side as I try to figure out why the level in LBP I had been working on is gone...then I think back to the night before and realize I had been in a rush to leave and shut off the system...then I usually go "no, it can't be"...then there is a few seconds of silence as the reality sets in...then something along the lines of "f*** my life" comes out :l
Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League
DS games were the worst. For a lot of them, all you had to do was touch the word "erase". The game would say "Are you sure?" If you touched the word "yes", then your 149 stars in Super Mario 64 DS were gone! I had enough sense not to do this, but when you have a four year old, brightly colored graphics, and TWO screens, there is no way your save data is going to survive.
I'd just look at my kid, and look at my DS. Look at my DS, and then look at my kid. Eventually I'd just say "fuck it". Then I'd challenge her to a game of Chutes and Ladders.
And she would whip my ass.
