I wasn't addicted to it, but I played it a fair amount (over 237 days, I averaged 78 minutes of play a day). I quit the game because my friends and family did, for some odd reason, think I was addicted to it. I didn't really care a lot (but I started playing a bit less), but when all my friends (not the same who called me addicted :P) quit, the game simply lost its fun factor.

Now Kakuro, that is an addictive game.

Haha, that's hilaroius... it's like you speak of the game so casually, even though you dropped 237 days on it (that's a few weeks more than me I think). Man, crazy stuff... and I didn't even think you were the WoW type.

@Thechalkblock: Eh, impossible. For me, anyway... when I've still got a couple (rl) friends constantly reminding me...

Yeah. I'm with you OP... don't give in to WoW... don't give in... (I'm at 8 months now!)

Why am I not the WoW type? I really loved that game, and put 212 hours into it (I just checked. I messed up in my original post, in which I say 310 hours).

It didn't feel like that much though, I almost only played with my friends, and I was normally in the same house as at least one of them.

I was more of a lv 19 PvP guy though (I figure half the time I played was on him, and half on my main).

I do understand that people get addicted to it though... One friend has now played it for over 3000 hours (he normally plays over 5 hours a day!).

Yeah, edited my post, I misunderstood you. 310 hours is nothing, lol...

I mean, when I said a few weeks more than me... I meant, I have near 200 days (erm, maybe closer to 150). That's... yeah, 3000+ hours. The funny thing is, most of my friends that play have far more time, one managing 8000+ hrs. I was never exactly addicted, it's just... the social aspect really draws you in. I'll log on even if I don't feel like playing, just to talk to some people.

Also, much of it is no doubt afk time, and it doesn't help I played it a ton when WoW launched since I was a senior in HS (got to slack off). I'm mainly a pvp guy - was there when the 30/40 twinking began, moved to 29/39/49 twinks, then once Arenas came I settled on 70's (I actually made Gladiator... AFTER my account expired ).

I'll probably get into it again eventually, but consoles have me occupied enough, for now. I actually got into VGC sales / consoles after I quit WoW - it took care of pretty much all of my gaming needs, so I completely missed what happened this current gen (Wii/DS/PSP/PS3/X360).

Oh, I noticed this response was kind of pointless, I just felt like rambling on about WoW. On another note, I've noticed the WoW userbase just keeps growing. How the hell are they managing this? I would think everyone that would be interested in the game has have already tried it... apparently not?

Its been one year and 5 months since my last WoW outbreak. I have a co-worker begs me to come back and play my tank for his guild. I can't do it anymore. During my WoW time, I gain 20 pounds and just now starting to take it off. I have two console and over 15 games (not including computer or PS2 games) and I still get the craving....

Need to go play something to take my mind off it now...

I'm just saying...

All of this treachery...you all will submit to the lich king!

WOTLK is by far the best thing that's happened to WoW since the actual launch. The quests are badass (you meet Arthas a whole bunch!) and make you feel all powerful. The music is truly exceptional and the zones are just jaw dropping. I can't stress just how awesome the quests are, I mean like... WoW is almost at my top 5 RPGs overall just because of the badass quests and I haven't even touched the 3 end level zones where the stuff REALLY gets going.

playing the game is all well and good cause it's a great game. The biggest problem for me is giving blizzard $15 a month!

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

Played wow for over 3 years and told myself its time to quit. was starting to ruin a lot of things. So i quick cold turkey. been 3 months since i touch wow.

I TAKE NO SIDES

I guess if I never try it i'll never feel the need to try it. There's no way I'm paying 20$ a month to play a PC game..
