The Wii is stronger than the original xbox except it dosnt use normal bump mapping like xbox. Its just a case of not familiar and understanding of the hardware or just not really trying.

Alot of developers basically abandon the gamecube and didnt get familiar with the architecture. Gamecube and Wii uses TEV vs regurlar bump mapping so a lot of developers dont even know how to fully use the TEV yet. Raw Power wise the Wii is much much more powerfull than the original Xbox, I'm not going to get into technical details.

FIFA developer finds creative challenge
FIFA producer Tim Tschirner has said that he believes the Nintendo Wii matches up to the first Xbox in terms of power.
Tschirner's comments came in an exclusive interview with GamesIndustry.biz's sister site, Eurogamer.net
"It's about as powerful as the original Xbox," he said. "The video hardware unfortunately is not as powerful. There's just a couple of key things that you can do on Xbox like shaders which you just cannot do on the Wii... Overall though it's pretty much what the original Xbox was."
Tschirner went on to observe that he has found the Wii "very straightforward to write code for", adding, "I think from a creative point of view it's been awesome working on this platform because there's obviously stuff we couldn't do before."
He also praised Nintendo for attempting to broaden the market with the Wii by appealing to people who don't normally play games.
"That's a bit of a philosophy that we wanted to get into this game as well - that people don't have to be afraid of finding the control scheme overwhelming or overly demanding," Tschirner explained.
"And then on the flip-side, we wanted to make sure that long-term FIFA players would find everything they love in the game still in place."
FIFA 08 is due out on Wii this autumn. To read the rest of this interview, visit Eurogamer.net.

I certainly hope that people don't start posting images of Xbox games rendered by the Xbox 360 as usually happens.
The 360 renders Xbox games in HD which makes them look better than they were on the Xbox.

Looking at the three screens I posted the wii seems much closer to the original Xbox than the 360. The conduit looks marginally better than doom 3 if at all, but the level of details and effects in Gears is evident.

I have yet to play a wii game that looks as good as Ninja Gaiden Black on the Xbox.
No one plays Wii for graphics tho...i dont even think the component cables are an essential purchase even if you do have an hd tv.

This is what i'm talking about. Wii does not have your normal shaders and bump mapping. It uses TEV instead of the normal method. Only 3rd party that been able to use that really well was factor 5. Again this is a case in point of developer not familiar with the architecture. with that i'm bowing out of this threat. Theres been to many of these kind in the past and they just become fanboy vs fanboy and who has the bigger dick thread.

Come on, these guys make one game per year, they have to be very experient!
