I used to like EGM, until I saw that they almost never review a Nintendo game without bias against it. That got on my last nerve. I am a multiple-system owner. I would like to know fairly what games may be worth buying and what aren't.

Goodbye, EGM. It wasn't nice knowing you.

Owned haha. Literally too. Well can't say I'm sad or happy about it. I always respected them in they said what they want but hated them for doing unprofessionally. EGM always got on my nerves because they never had any standards for any of their reviews. Would knock on one game for what they would praise another.

Thanks, Snesboy.  I wasn't in the mood to drag up history in defense of EGM, but these guys have always been VERY pro-Nintendo.  I recall during the N64 era they made the comment "Mark our words, Nintendo WILL be on top again".  That quote stayed in my head.

EGM Games of the year included:  Goldeneye, Zelda: OoT, Metroid Prime, Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, Resident Evil 4, and Super Mario 64.  This isn't all of the Nintendo exclusives either.  This is a partial list.  There was/is another publication that I subscribe to that would ALWAYS give Activision titles shockingly high scores.  This mag always had the exclusive on Activision breaking news too and had several Activision cover stories a year.  EGM got on their high horse from time to time, but I always felt that they were the most fair and credible source.

I loved EGM growing up, and it pains me to say this, but it needed to be shut down. Never mind the fact that it is a hollow husk of what used to be; even if it were still the same awesome magazine, it would need to be shut down. The Internet has made monthly publications in tech-related fields obsolete. There's no way to get around it. There is no way that publishers can compete with free, daily-updated information on a medium that its target audience is going to spend most of the day searching by offering monthly-updated information, even if they stopped charging subscription fees. Especially when you factor in how much easier it is to advertise on the web as opposed to paper, everything works in the Internet's favor in tech-related fields.

Yup. I have all my EGMs (#176-#236) all right next to my computer for reference

And if memory serves, their "Greatest Games of Their Time" #1 pick was Super Mario Bros.. Their "150 Greatest Games of All Time" #1 pick was Super Metroid.

The change from 1-10 to an A-F ratings system sucked, but EGM was about as up to date and fair as a magazine could be. I didn't frequent 1-up.com much, though.

Snesboy and d21lewis just owned all the nintendo fanboys, ouch

True. Ocarina of Time was #8 on that same list and The Legend of Zelda for NES was #5.

The Greatest Games of All Time was Super Metroid but I wasn't subscribed back then. I read that in a later issue.

I was a huge fan of 1UP until late 2007 and then it was just a site I visited like this one.

Every time I opened an EGM, it was always bashing Nintendo games. Either you guys are lying, or I happened to constantly get the wrong issues. I'll take your word for it, though.

Ah well, at least they're not as bad as Game Informer. Only reason I get that anymore is because it comes with my Edge card subscription.

*goes back to playing Braid.* =|

Care to give an example? They've had problems Nintendo but they never outright blindly bashed them.
